It does what it was designed to do.
Pros: It's fast and runs slightly cooler than my 4TB HGST drives.
Cons: People seem to complain about how noisy HGST drives are. I don't think it's a big deal.
Went bad after a week
Pros: More RAM than what I had previous.
Cons: RAM seemed slightly slower than previous RAM of same speed. RAM went bad after a week.
Reliable hard drive box.
Pros: I own three of these. The most recent one uses a different power supply. The older ones had power supplies that have a green light to indicate they're on. This one doesn't. I prefer it that way. It's pointless to have a light on that. Holds hard drives of different types with no issues.
Cons: People have complained about the noise from the fans. I don't know how they could be quieter. That's the nature of fans. I do not like the lights flashing on the box. I wish there was a toggle to disable the lights. And the USB cables provided could have been longer. I end up having to purchase longer cables every time. Would like it if there was a filter that could be installed so the box wouldn't suck up all the dust in the room.
Overall Review: Don't bother using e-sata. Just use the USB 3.
eSata doesn't work on Windows 8
Pros: The speeds are great when connected via eSata.
Cons: Very crippled when connected via USB. Smart data is only available for one of the four drives when connected via USB as well. Managed to get to work with Windows 8 ONCE. I tried different sata drivers but no luck.
Overall Review: Would be nice if I could use the eSata on Windows 8. Makes it pretty useless if I need to backup a lot of data.
