Most Fantastic Phone Ever

Samsung Galaxy Note 16GB Blue 3G Unlocked GSM Smart Phone w/ Android OS 2.3 / 8 MP Camera (N7000)
Samsung Galaxy Note 16GB Blue 3G Unlocked GSM Smart Phone w/ Android OS 2.3 / 8 MP Camera (N7000)

Pros: I have had this phone for one month and it is the best phone I have ever owned. I bought first mobile phone in 1985 and all of them have been Nokia except one. I never beleived I would change from Nokia to anything else. I love Android, you can root it (jailbreak, become a super user or get to the OS). This phone has the proper size for old eyes to view the internet with. The camera is 8 mega pixel and you can use a 32 gb sdhc micro memory chip. The Galaxy Note has a 192 page manual you can download from the internet and if you are one of those rare people who read a manual you will be able to get 100% value from the phone. I rarely use my desktop or laptop computer now that I have this phone. If I have a physical keyboard I think I would use them even less. My previous phone was a Nokia N900 with Maemo and it hurts me to say that this phone is far superior. I was a very Nokia fan. The Galaxy Note has Gingerbread (Android 2.6) but in the next quarter will have An

Cons: Has Gingerbread (Android 2.6) instead of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) but next quarter the Note will have ICS. Large for some hands. Very large manual, many features and will take some time to master all of them

Overall Review: I strongly recommend this phone. It is a hybrid between a phone and a tablet. Currently there is nothing on the market like it. To my knowledge no table will make a phone call (unless you use Skype) If your hands are large enough (and I have small hands for a man) you will love this phone. You do look a little goofy when you are holding this large up to your ear but you get used to it. Imagine make a cell phone call with a small tablet. Not as many apps as the iPhone but more than I will ever use. You can only deal with so many (the limitation is my memory not the phone). I can not imagine what Samsung will release in the future. I used the first Smartphone released by Nokia in 1986 (the Communicator 9000) and it weighed almost 10 ounces and was like a small brick. In 15 years we have come a very long way and I am looking forward to the next 15 years. This phone is pricey without being subsidized by the carriers but it is worth it. When you have your own phone no c

Yamaha Service Sucks

YAMAHA RX-V765 7.2-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver
YAMAHA RX-V765 7.2-Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver

Pros: Yamaha normally makes great products with good value. If anything goes wrong after 30 days with Newegg you are hosed and directed to call Yamaha. Yamaha will then refer you to the nearest dealer and you can wait anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks depending on their backlog for repair.

Cons: This product lasted 2 months and 2 weeks to the day. Fortunately I had two identical receivers so I could quickly troublshoot and confirm and isolate the problem. Now I am stuck with waiting for a repair. I plan to move away from Yamaha and use something more reliable.

Overall Review: I would also suggest to Newegg and Yamaha that they extend (perhaps to 90 days) their replacement policy. It is such a pain in the rear to take this to a service center (there is only one in all of Atlanta) that is 30 miles away and then wait until the unit is repaired. I plan to immediately replace the Yamaha with something more reliable and then sell it and let some other sucker deal with Yamaha. I will also sell the other unit before it fails.

Very Satisfied User

Seagate STAR401 Diskless System BlackArmor NAS 400 Network Storage Server for SMB User
Seagate STAR401 Diskless System BlackArmor NAS 400 Network Storage Server for SMB User

Pros: I have two of these units. The first one I purchased is over two years old and have never had a problem. I use it as a movie and music server. The first one I took the 4 one terabyte drives out and replaced them with 4 two terabyte drives. In the second unit I purchased it empty and have four 3 terabytes drives. I will agree it did take almost a day to format the four 3 terabytes drives but as you get older you have more patience.

Cons: I wish these units supported Sata 3 although for viewing of movies it would be a moot point.

Overall Review: I had no problems in setting up the shares in either unit. I did upgrade each as new firmware became available.

Close But No Cigar

Nokia Lankku Blue 3G Unlocked GSM Smart Phone w/ MeeGo OS / 8 MP Camera / 3.9" Touchscreen (N9)
Nokia Lankku Blue 3G Unlocked GSM Smart Phone w/ MeeGo OS / 8 MP Camera / 3.9" Touchscreen (N9)

Pros: Beautiful design, great feel, great screen and light weight. Uses Meego (an OS that can be unlocked).

Cons: This was rushed to market and Meego has too many rouge edges. I worked for the Government of Finland for four years and I am a devout Nokia fan. I thought Meego was the great hope for Nokia, instead we are asked to use an OS from the company that makes an OS that makes my computer crash and lock up frequently. I pass. Meego was announced with great hope as a marriage between Intel and Nokia and Nokia bailed out when they dropped all OSs and switched to Window Mobile 7 but I digress. Back to the subject. Nokia does not have Swype (like Android) the browser is unable to use Google unless you use mobile. You can not use the full website or full iGoogle. Android is competitve with iOS and in time may eventually be superior (I have never used an iPhone and currently use a Samsung Galaxy Note and I love it), Meego in no way compares to either. It was rushed out the door in order to allow the the Nokia developers to work on Windows Mobile 7. Check on the Internet and you will

Overall Review: Perhaps with revisions of Meego this will become a competitive OS. I used Maemo and loved it. Multi-tasking, root the OS, and plenty of apps. Few developers will create apps for a dead OS. Such a pity, this was one of the most beautiful phones I have ever seen and the feel was fantastic. I almost kept it as an art object but I paid far more than the attractive price that Newegg is quoting so I grudgingly returned it. I still dream about it.

Almost A PHD Camera

SONY DSCT110/SC Silver 16.1 MP 4X Optical Zoom 25mm Wide Angle Digital Camera
SONY DSCT110/SC Silver 16.1 MP 4X Optical Zoom 25mm Wide Angle Digital Camera

Pros: Very very easy to operate Takes fantastic photos with it's 16 megapixel chip Very small Great price It's a Sony

Cons: Would like to see a bigger preview (but I can live with this display) Would like to be able to leave the battery in to recharge

Overall Review: Bought this for my wife who needs a PHD (Push Here Dummy) camera and this comes very close to fitting the bill. She loves the small size for her purse. I have ordered a spare battery but I don't think she will need it during the course of one session (unless we go to three weddings and a funeral in one day). As usual Newegg deliverd rapidly.
