Manufacturer Recertified Corsair Force Series 3 CSSD-F120GB3/RF2 2.5
  • Owned For: less than 1 day

Pros: Hard to tell

Cons: Wasted time waiting for it to arrive because it was DOA.
Wasted postage sending its predecessor back to Corsair.
Wasted time having to troubleshoot something that should have been functional in the first place.
Do they check whether refurbed devices even work?

Other Thoughts: Today I received a CSSD-F120GB3/RF (note the absence of the number 2 at the end; no discernible difference) as the result of an RMA directly from Corsair. This drive was supposed to replace a CSSD-F115GB2-BRKT-A that had died while still in the warranty period. The SSD I received today to replace that old drive was DOA. What's the point of getting an RMA if all you're going to get in exchange is a little metal box that doesn't do anything?

Corsair Force 2.5

  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Sped up my PC's boot time.

Cons: Died in less than 3 years without warning. Got a BSOD one day while system was booting up. Restarted PC, but then drive could not be even detected.

Other Thoughts: Pulled drive and tried accessing it via an external drive caddy. Not detected. Drive is dead and useless.

4 out of 5 eggs Works fine 04/16/2011

This review is from: ASUS P5Q-E LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: When teamed with a fast processor, it works fast.

Cons: Was a nightmare to get working with Vista 64-bit SP1 OEM. Never got it to work, even after WEEKS of debugging and retrying, so I wound up going back to XP for a couple years, at least until Windows 7 came out. Installed Windows 7 w/ no problem!

Other Thoughts: My problem may have been drivers, but I figured that I mitigated that in the first place by waiting until SP1 of Windows Vista had come out. Don't think I'll buy another motherboard right after it is introduced. Wait until a mobo has been out on the market for a while!
