Pros: The price/value is great. The performance is not that of a $1300 ultrabook, but if you swap out the slow 5400 rpm HDD for an SSD the whole story changes. I swapped out for a 128gb Samsung 840 Pro and all I can say is WOW. The laptop has a SATA III controller so it takes full advantage of the performance. This also dropped the weight about 2 ounces, and increased the battery life an honest HOUR. I updated all the drivers from ASUS and I have had NONE of the issues others have spoken about. I find the fit, finish, and quality Excellent!!!
Cons: I guess my only wish was that it had a Core I5 or i7...
Other Thoughts: I also swapped the built-in wireless card for an Intel Centrino-N 6235 Dual band wireless card to help with interference in my apartment building, being that there are 13 2.4 ghz wireless networks within range and it would drop out the signal on any 2.4 ghz wireless device, not just this laptop in particular.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: MSI 790XT-G45 AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros: Good specs for the price, ATI 790 Chipset, Nice orange looking box?
Cons: Literally blew up. Does not really support 125 Watt chips obviously. Seems cheap when it comes to the fit and finish. The board is too thin it flexes too easy, etc.
Other Thoughts: Well, bought this as a cheap board to bridge between AM2+ and AM3 so I could use my DDR2 memory and Athlon 7750 untill I upgraded. It seemed to work ok with the 7750, but when I purchased a Phenom ii x6 1055t and pushed the chip without even raising the vcore voltage, the board failed. I was running prime95 to test stability, when I came back a few minutes later the computer was blinking. I could not get it to power up again, so I pulled the power and repluged the computer and POW!!! Blew a transister, split it in half. A+ quality JUNK!!! Luckily it was just under 30 days I owned it, the egg is great like always.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Fast Card, Came with 2 Games. This card is fantastic, just over QUADRUPLED my 3D Mark score from my old SLI setup with 2 8600 GTS OC Cards! Can Play most every game at high settings NO Problem. Some older games like the origional FEAR I would average close to 200 fps with high settings. Quiet operation for the type card, nearly silent when just running normal tasks like internet, video playback etc.
Cons: This card is big as many have stated, I had to move my Hard Drive to make room for the length. Heat, boy can this thing put out heat when gaming, not really a con though because the heat goes out of the case through the rear vent below the DVI connectors. It is not silent when gaming, you can definatly hear the fan when it is working hard. Not annoying or excessive noise.
Other Thoughts: The Quality of this unit seems top notch. The factory OC seems to give that little extra with the 216 cores. I only had one lockup playing days now, not even sure if that was the card's fault. Great Card, the noise I talked about is not even noticable once you have just a little game sound. This is my Personal Rig, I have a tech service company and am a MCP, we techs are great at the bang for the buck thing and this is it.
Old antec case
Antec Trio 430 PS actually under minimum, but has high 12 ratings being that it has 3 12 rails, so it seems to work and keep stable voltage even under load...
AMD Athlon X2 7750 Black OC w/sunbeam core contact cooler. Great Performace for the dollar.
Mushkin DDR2 1066 Best ram!!!
