Overall Review: There seems to be a well documented issue with this board and any k-sku intel processor. The issue is related to turbo boost, but I suspect it goes deeper. When the CPUs push into their rated Turbo boost range, the default voltage values supplied on the BIOS cause the CPU to crash. I checked with their support and they released a BIOS update to help with this issue, but my board shipped with the F8 BIOS update. A quick scan of the interwebs shows that many users are still experiencing issues with their k-sku CPUs after the F* BIOS update. I contacted support at Gigabyte and went through the deeply unhelpful rigamarole of: "Try default BIOS settings", "I did"; "Is your BIOS up to date", "Yes, its version F8, the version your company claims will fix the issue I'm having"; "its your ram", "I tried other ram"; "Its your power supply", "I tried another PSU"; "its a thermal issue", "I have a noctua nh-u14s in push pull and temps are constantly being monitored. Even under full load they rarely get into the 60C range" Finally support said "disable turbo boost". I did and the stability issues went away. Now as far as Gigabyte is concerned thats the end of their support. They want me to leave my i7-4790k continuously locked at 4.0Ghz. I do NOT deem this an acceptable solution. I did not purchase this board and CPU to be locked at 4.0Ghz and I will not turn off built in features of my CPU as a solution. I am wholeheartedly disappointed with Gigabyte, their support and this board. As a long time supporter of Gigabyte all I can say is I cannot see myself purchasing another product from them after this experience. It would seem I now have an expensive paperweight.
