4 out of 5 eggs For the Money a Decent case 01/16/2014

This review is from: Fractal Design Define R4 with Window Titanium Grey Silent ATX Mid Tower Case

Pros: As with any case in this price range there are pros and cons. Lots of others to read so I'll keep this fairly straight forward.
1. It is built well with lots of places to add fans, water
cooling etc.
2. Enough space behind MB to hide your wires with
rubber grommet openings to snake everything
3. At this price point, a simple fan controller for up to
3 fans and a window that is nice.
4. Comes with silencing padding to ensure low noise.
5. Nice of box of case accessories and a booklet of

Cons: As with the pro you have cons too.
1. To add or change fans in the front you have to
remove the front face no biggie, BUT you will have
issues getting the space you need because the
wires attacked to the front of the face make it very
hard to give you the distance you need to get to
everything. I mean you can it but you have to feed
your wires through etc. You have to pull back and be
careful while you do it
2. If you want to change the front fans you need to have
fans that a complete edge or else you only get 2
screws to screw them down. I used Corsair quiet
led series and they are around in the middle so they
did not snap in and you can only use to fan screws to
the each fan in the front so be careful what fan you
3. If you have to use your screws that creates another
minor issue. The filter is a one piece slide in
screen to filter up to 2 front fans. If you use the
screws you'll have some small difficulties getting
the screen to slide back down going over the
4. There really is no excuse to not have all your case
function wires NOT be directly attacjed to the case
itself and NOT the front panel it causes issues as I
noted in my first con.
5. Minor quality control issues. One of my case wires
was missing the plastic insulator and was only a
BARE piece of wire. More said under other thoughts.
My case HAD to be returned because of this
Newegg paid the shipping back and I reordered the
case again.

Other Thoughts: Other thoughts... One of the case wires, the Power LED, comes with 2 separate wires, generally a good thing since you can easily use on the MB whether it uses 2 or 3 prongs. The idea of no plastic insulator was a bother for me. Maybe others have spare parts for that but I did not and not having that is an issue. Newegg swiftly took care of it with chat customer support. The idea that case wires are attached to the front case panel with some difficulty to get the front off is really annoying and requires you to be really careful.
But even with the cons I mentioned the pros outweigh them. Watch for on sale or reduced pricing. There are better cases, their are worse cases. For the money you are getting a decent well made case that is VERY hard to beat for the money!
