Essential for gaming

Logitech G13 (920-000946) Advanced Gameboard
Logitech G13 (920-000946) Advanced Gameboard

Pros: Decent construction quality 5 stars because it's the best-in-class

Cons: Wish keys were mechanical rather than standard muddy keys

Overall Review: I always hated WASD gaming on any keyboard. It just felt awkward, and I could never get used to the key offset. Enter the G13. The keys are lined up, which is unlike any keyboard. The palm rest is just right, and the thumbstick is a nice feature. This gamepad has been an essential tool for me ever since i got it, FOUR YEARS AGO! Always nice when a product lasts that long, and it's one of the few things that leaves a somewhat positive view of logitech products in my mind, despite quality issues with the G35/G930.

Finally!

Razer BlackShark Over Ear Noise Isolating PC Gaming Headset
Razer BlackShark Over Ear Noise Isolating PC Gaming Headset

Pros: Sturdy construction - metal connections b/t headband and cups No in line mute/volume - yes this is a pro, see why below Excellent sound Very nice, sturdy mic boom / wind screen

Cons: Ear cups are a little small for my taste, however, they do fit comfortably over my ear, it's just not as spacious as some of the other gaming headsets.

Overall Review: I've owned about 4 or 5 G35s and G930s over the past few years. All 3 G35s had the plastic connector between the headband and earcup break after moderate use. We're talking after only about 6 months on average. The G930s have the same weakness, but then add in the unreliability of the wireless connection and the inability for the battery to hold a charge. My frustration led me to get a cheap-o Plantronics gaming headset. I would probably still be using that 3.5mm 2.0 headset but for the in-line volume rheostat that causes the volume balance between the two earcups to go haywire. A mere bump will cause the right cup to mute, go staticky, or become very quiet. Only when you get the wheel just so will the balance be right. Then you have to adjust the volume on your computer to compensate, which completely defeats the purpose of the inline volume feature. So I was sick and tired of overpriced headsets with awesome sound but absolutely 0 quality of construction. The problem is that quality non-gaming headphones don't come with a mic, not at a reasonable price anyway. Finally, I found this headset. Metal construction means no broken earcups. And no in line volume means no balance issues. i couldn't be happier with this purchase and anticipate having this headset for a long time.

awesome little lappy

HP Laptop ENVY 14 Intel Core i5-480M 4GB Memory 750GB HDD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 + Intel HD 14.5" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 14-1210NR

Pros: thin, relatively light, no keyboard flex at all, backlit keys, battery life, chassis is made of quality materials and feels sturdier than a mac (i used to own one)

Cons: i wish they still had the better screen available, but honestly, the res is fine with me. i just like having the best available, which this is... now.

Overall Review: not even going to bother doing any serious gaming on this, that's for my desktop.
