This review is from: MSI GT Series GT70 2OC-017US Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700MQ (2.40GHz) 24GB Memory Super RAID (128GB SSD*2 RAID 0+ 1TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M 3GB GDDR5 17.3" Win 8 Multi-language
Pros: -Tons of storage
-Boot and program loading is exceptionally fast
-Latest generation cpu/gpu.
-Audio/amp work well with my PC350SE headset--no hissing or buzzing noises as in some notebooks.
-Auto-disables trackpad when a mouse is plugged in
-Switching between integrated/discrete graphics even when tabbing out/in of games is exceptionally fast (a couple seconds max)
Cons: -Lots of heat under load, but only a single heatsink for both cpu and gpu. The fan boost really helps but you'll likely only want to use it when wearing a headset/phones. It's quite loud. The good part is that all of this heat is directed out the back/side of the laptop and the trackpad/wrist rest stay cool.
-A modest amount of bloatware including a few norton apps that attempt to install other apps even as you uninstall them.
-Viewing angles on screen aren't great
-Glossy plastic keyboard accents attract dust & fingerprints.
-The keyboard has ghosting issues which will be a problem for a small number of games
Other Thoughts: It's not quite a desktop replacement in the sense that I can't play the latest games with all the settings maxed, but it's a suitable desktop alternative when traveling. I am quite pleased with it.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ZALMAN CNPS9900MAX-B 135mm Long life bearing CPU Cooler Blue LED
Pros: For an i5 2500k at 4.5ghz:
Idle temps 6-9c above ambient
Full load is about 20-25C above ambient.
+Won't block RAM slots
Cons: Fan is somewhat loud at highest settings.
The good news is that the temperature difference between 50% fan speed and 100% is minimal.
Other Thoughts: I've heard it's difficult to get a replacement fan if yours happens to fail on you.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Excellent air flow, room for expansion, room for extra fans, external fan speed control, removable dust filters, rubber grommets for easy cable management, white LEDs look great, optional mesh/glass side window choice, tons of room for cable management, lockable side panels, the list goes on.
Cons: Mine arrived with many scratches on the exterior right side panel--damage that couldn't have occurred due to mishandling by the shipper. The white paint seems very low quality. I'm starting to think I should have gotten the black version instead and saved some money.
It's quite saddening to spend a lot on a well-designed case only to have it show up scratched, especially given the stellar reputation of Corsair's products.
Other Thoughts: Hopefully Corsair sells replacement side panels.READ FULL REVIEW
