Pros: I don't have a high end rig. But, if I ever end up upgrading to something that needs more power, I know that I'll be covered.
GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ AMD 970
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W
PNY XLR8 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600
Still does the things I want it to do, but new games are starting to push my rig to it's limits! Try to get at least a Bronze certified PSU, your motherboard will thank you.
Other Thoughts: If you can afford it, go with a modular unit. You'll definately be happy with the extra space you'll get.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I used this for my gaming rig I built a little over a year ago. SSDs were still a little expensive back then but now they are relatively affordable. I also wish I had gotten maybe 1TB worth of space as I am starting to scramble for space with all the programs/games that I have now. But, this drive is still working well after a year as expected and haven't had any troubles with it.
Cons: None so far, after 1 year
Other Thoughts: Upgrade to either 1TB or an SSD if you can. I'll be buying an SSD as my primary drive soon and using this drive for storage purposes of music and files.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: WD 1TB My Passport Portable Hard Drive USB 3.0 Model WDBBEP0010BBK-NESN Black
Pros: External HDD have dropped in price since I bought this, but I'm obviously not going to take off eggs for that. I've probably owned this for a little under a year and still works flawlessly. Doesn't heat up to the the point where I can barely touch it, so that's good. And all my information is still on there so that's even better!
Cons: The only con I have is the software. I tend to find that the backup software that most external HDDs come with isn't very usefull. Just drag and drop the folders that you want yourself. Or, if your experienced, write your own program to do it. I just see the software as bloatware and it installs unecessary files that take up space.
Also, don't do a system image backup as that is also a waste of space.
