Western Digital Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5

Pros: It's a good HDD, kinda noisy when it's reading / writing, but I'm probably spoiled because I'm used to just an SSD. My first one worked fine for 8 months and then one day it just randomly completely dead, it wouldn't even spin up. I lost all data on the drive but luckily I had backups. I RMA-ed one through WD and they had a new one to me in Atlanta all the way from Cali in two days. Super happy with the RMA process or else I would have knocked another egg off. So far the replacement is running 4 months without any problems so let's hope the new one lasts longer than the first...

Cons: One died after 8 months, but RMA process was very pleasant and problem-free

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-16GBRL

Pros: I've had this RAM for about a year now and have zero complaints, my system runs blazing fast without any overclocking whatsoever and I multi-task like there's no tomorrow.

Cons: None so far

OCZ Vertex 3 2.5

  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: I've had this for about a year now and have no complaints. It's blazing fast. Dead silent (obviously) and beats a HDD in every way. I've heard that SSD's die a lot but this is going 1 year strong so let's hope everything continues to run smoothly. If I could go back in time I'd probably get a slightly larger SSD but that's not a big deal, I have some space left on this, I put all my media and non-essential stuff on a 1TB HDD.

Cons: None so far
