ASUS R9290X-DC2OC-4GD5 Radeon R9 290X 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Solid construction and very quiet. After about a week of tweaking the most that I can get out of these cards is ~ 660KH/s, which is far less than the Sapphire variants. Works great with the x4 PCI Express 4-Way Splitter, but fried the PCIe 1x to 16x riser cables with Molex and solid capacitor (be careful with those cables!). Recommend a Cool Master PSU or similar for this power hungry unit.

Cons: Latest Catalyst Drivers seem a bit flaky, but stable if I leave the control panel alone (i.e. defaults).

This review is from: ePOWER EP-2000P10-T3 2000W ATX12V Ver.2.2 SLI CrossFire Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: 2000 Watts

Cons: The unit was unable to support a setup with Two AMD R9 290x. I tried it on a smaller rig with NVidia GTX 750ti cards and it kept shutting down. I have since removed it from my environment and replaced it with a Cool Master 1200w Silent Pro Gold and Supplemental Thermaltake Power Express 650w.

Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC256MAG-1G1 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: No problems here! It was quick and easy to setup. Windows boot times are ultra-fast by comparison. Overall system and application performance is absolutely outstanding with the SSD in place. I often run VMware Workstation on my customized sager laptop to test enterprise products and the overall performance rivals that of the exact same virtual systems running on dedicated enterprise servers which run 10,000 rpm HDDS. IOPS is through the roof so I can multitask effortlessly. My virus scan kicked in during FPS Game-play and I didn’t even notice it.

Cons: There is no going back to regular hard drives after this! I now own 3...... :P
