This review is from: Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 Media Center Kit Dual TV Tuner w/ IR Remote PCI-E x 1
Pros: It works. HD video streaming is very clear
Cons: The set up. It takes a little practice to get it right.
Other Thoughts: Last week when I got out of work, I was going to watch the Seattle game. But to my surprise, the tuner had no signal. OKAY, so I restarted my computer, Still no signal. On Monday I saw the cable man on the street. I started quizzing him on my problem. He didn't know what I was talking about. TV tuner in your computer, really?
But he did say; TWC is redoing the digital throughput.
So I uninstalled the program. Reinstalled the program. It took 4 tries to get the drivers updated. A lot of failures. But keep trying. It will work. I now have more channels than before. But if you are having the same problem I was having? When you get to the part that asks? Would you like to keep your old channel set up?. Hit the no option. Rescan all.
On to tech support. Do they have any? I went to their site to see if they had any news about this problem. The only way to get a hold of anyone to email was Sales. The email would reach them, but they would not accept the email. HMMM! So I tried the UK site. We speak English, right? Tech support for GB was disabled.
But don't give up. It will work
BTW, I only have an HD OTA antenna for watching TV. So I'm limited to what I can watch. I'm too cheap to buy cable.
I'm giving 4 stars because of the seemingly lack of caring of support from Hauppauge.
This review is from: Silverstone PCI-E to USB 3.0 Add-On Card Model SST-EC04-P
Pros: I liked it at first
Cons: It worked for about 2 months.
I plugged my thumb drive into it, saw a little green spark, and that was the end of it. No drives show up under (computer). It will still power up my devices, so I'm baffled by this.
Other Thoughts: I did contact Silverstone, so maybe they will have a solution to this problem. Or maybe they will replace it? I might even get one that works for more than 2 months.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It did work, for a little bit of time
Cons: It's not on the approved list of modems from TWC. So you have to lie to them. Telling them it's the SB6141.
It worked for about 2 months.
Other Thoughts: Like I said above. It worked for about 2 months. And since it's replace only. Why would I want another piece of garbage. It isn't worth buying the first time, let alone paying to ship it back.
The only useful thing I found on was I had lost my power cord to my router. So I could at least salvage that from it.
IMHO, stay away from this product.
When the TWC modem goes out? You can always get a replacement one from TWC that day if you visit one of their offices.
