Pros: Easy overclock
Cons: USB 3.0 issues- See other thoughts
Other Thoughts: I bought this a couple months ago, and have never been able to get the USB 3.0 to work with my USB 3.0 ext hdd.
Ive tried EVERYTHING, checked all the forums and found that I am not the only one with this issue.
If USB 3.O is not that important to you then this is a good board for the price, but me, I want what is promised when I spend my hard earned money, and this board did not deliver.
So I am getting rid of it, and getting what I wanted in the first place, the Crosshair V formula-z.
Pros: Board looks Great!
Cons: none so far, am going to install during my vacation next week, will update then.
Other Thoughts: I Feel like such a moron, I sent this board back 2 times because I thought the heatsink shields were all scratched up, but have since found out that there is a plastic film that covers them. First Ive ever heard of this. Anyhoo, got the mobo today and it is true, make sure you remove the plastic before you install.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Board looks good, (knocked off 1 egg, See other thoughts), was able to overclock my 8350 out the box at stock volts to 4.6 ghz
Easy overclocking ability.
Cons: Software and Drivers.
Other Thoughts: FIrst of all, when I received this board from NEWEGG, the packaging was perfect, no dents in the box at all, I opened up the box and inside was the motherboard box, again perfect condition. Opened up the box, everything inside was sealed and new. Board was tie wrapped into the protective cover, again perfect.
I took the board out and what catches my eye? SCRATCHES! I looked like it was slid across something. I was thinking that they put a protective coating on the heatsinks and all i had to do is remove them, but there is no plastic covering.
After spending $170 dollars on this board, i would expect to get a NEW board.
Anyhoo, I contacted New egg and after 3 days of going back and forth, they agreed to RMA it for me and send me another one, FYI THIS BOARD IS NON-REFUNDABLE!! They are paying for shipping and stuff so that is good.
Im sure it is not NEWEGGS fault, the board probably came from the factory that way.
Fingers crossed that the next one is in better shape.
plus I have to go without a computer for another 2 weeks. GRRRR!
Now as for the software, Im gonna keep this short. The USB ports (All of them) stay on ALL the time. So after a few reboots, it stopped recognizing my external HD, I worked on it for 2 days with no resolve. I ended up having to use the USB 2.0 slot for it to work correctly.
Again, maybe it was just a bad board and the next will be better.
All in all this IS a good board, everything else works smooth. Im not saying dont buy it, i will repost after I get the replacement board.
