Pros: Quiet, fast
Cons: Too many DOA drives
Other Thoughts: I've used Samsung drives for years and I think this is the first bad experience I've ever had. I ordered 2 and right out of the box 1 was DOA. RMAed and waited for a replacement which showed delivered but never arrived. So far, batting 1 for 3, I'm less than enthusiastic about waiting 2-3 more weeks for a carrier claim, ANOTHER RMA and then finding out after more than a month if I can EVER get started on this project!
You know, those Velociraptors are starting to look pretty good now in spite of the price tag...
Pros: Hmm, it's shiny I guess.
Cons: It sucks, pure and simple. Installed the drive, it formatted with no problem, and began to transfer data. Within the first hour of actual operation it froze up and began clicking nonstop. No response whatsoever. I knew I should've stuck with Samsung!
Other Thoughts: 10 years ago I had no problem with Seagate, but whatever changed through the years they have become one of my least favorite brands. I was drawn to the attractive sticker price, but now with return shipping and other costs I would've been better off spending the extra $20 on the one I actually wanted in the first place.
