HP 24o Black 24
  • eggxpert iconEggXpert

Pros: +Great Color
+Beautiful picture
+VESA mountable (I wish I could say that about all my monitors)
+Low power usage
+2ms response timing is pretty good for gaming

Cons: -Mine was missing the power cord, but I have tons of them, so that wasn't really a problem.
-No height or tilt adjustment
-Only came with a VGA cable which is almost useless in the day and age
-No display port

Other Thoughts: This would make a great monitor for a multiple monitor setup on the VESA mount. The standard base leaves much to be desired. Overall this a decent monitor for the price and is good for gaming, movie watching, and regular office applications. I would recommend this monitor to a friend if they were in need of one. I ended up giving this monitor to my dad to use for his new business.

GIGABYTE GA-X99-Designare EX (rev. 1.0) LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
  • eggxpert iconEggXpert

Pros: -USB type C
-Supports M.2
-Great Overclocking features
-Even supports thunderbolt 3
-3 way video support
-Dual Intel GigE Nics
-Easy to get up and running quickly with an intuitive layout for most cases

Cons: -Integrated wifi seems below this kind of board. It would have been nice if it had been an optional chip piggybacking on the motherboard so that it could be replaced.
-BIOS interface is sluggish
-Could use more USB 3.0 ports
-Missing onboard POST code display
-The price is really high for what seems like only a few extras and some flashy plastic

Other Thoughts: -A solid but expensive board. If you are looking for a new motherboard to "futureproof" your machine (as much as one can these days) this should do you quite well.

-The lack of the POST code display that I have come to expect on X99 boards is a large setback. It would be nice to see that make a comeback in later versions of this board.

-The 3-way Crossfire/SLI at 16x is pretty cool and works very well. If that is the only reason you are buying this board I am sure there are better valued boards that have the same relative features.

-They knocked it out of the part with the heatsink design.

Toshiba OCZ VT180 2.5
  • eggxpert iconEggXpert

Pros: Excellent performance all around. Corsair includes a drive adapter and mounting hardware making installation easy and straightforward. Sped up my games 10 fold after moving them onto the SSD.

Cons: Power consumption is a little high with the 960GB drive compared to other SSDs that are in my system.

Other Thoughts: I really have no complaints about this drive. It is an excellent choice for the size and price. I look forward to using this drive for a long while.
