This review is from: ASRock Z97 Extreme6 LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros: - Price
- 2 M.2 slots one running at PCIe 3 x4 speed
- Nice quality
- SLI support
Cons: None so far
Other Thoughts: Currently using this board with a Core i7-4790k slightly overclocked to 4.2GHz along with a Samsung XP941 M.2 SSD in the Ultra M.2 slot getting around 700MB/s write and 1000MB/s read times booting Windows 8.1. Boot times are around 6-7 secs from cold boot to desktop very impressed with the M.2 architecture was pretty much the main reason I went with this board. Fantastic price for the features this board offers its hard to get everything you get here around the $150 range.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: - Insanely fast read times and good write
- PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds
Cons: - Uses PCIe lanes
Other Thoughts: Have Windows 8.1 installed and using as main PC boot drive. Asrock Extreme6 motherboard using the Ultra M.2 slot. Boot times are wicked fast at about 6 seconds from press of power button to desktop.
Only thing I listed as a con but is not really a con is the PCIe lanes that running at the PCIe 3.0 speed uses. For me this does drop my GTX 970 video card down from x16 to x8 but I don't even notice a difference. Now I will be eventually getting another 970 so am curious to see if this causes an issue with SLI since one of my cards will only be running at x4 instead of both running at x8. Will just have to wait and see but definitely am not going to take an egg off for that because its still a great SSD with very good read and wrtie times.
Pros: - Brought new life to old Dell laptop
- Works with Linux Mint x64 great
- 8 second boot
Other Thoughts: Only problem I had was initial installation the SSD was not connecting with SATA connection on laptop because of design. Not going to dock an egg for that. Once installed everything was fine installed Linux Mint in about 10 mins.READ FULL REVIEW
