Pros: Everything. This card blows away my EVGA GTX 460 SLI rig, at less heat and power use!. I've got a single 22in 1680x1050 120hz display, and nothing I've thrown at it slows me down below 60fps. This card is simply amazing.
Personally love hardware enabled FXAA in every game, which means 'free' anti-aliasing. I can actually turn off the in-game MSAA setting and have better image quality. I haven't played around with adaptive VSYNC yet, but it looks promising.
Even with the fan at max, the noise levels are still tolerable. Basically, I cant hear the fan through my headphones.
EVGA support and the community has been extremely helpful with all my questions. They're truly the best in the business. At the time of posting this EVGA has 56 reviews, with Asus trailing with 7.
Cons: Drivers are 'pretty good' at the moment (301.10). They're not unified, so I cant use my EVGA GT 430 for Physx with the 3xx drivers installed. It's possible to make it work, but I can wait. This should get fixed by Nvidia soon.
Other Thoughts: EVGA's backplate looks great, and has thermal interface material for better heat absorption.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Logisys Computer 15~17" Notebook / Laptop Pad with Card Reader & USB NP160
Pros: Absolutely perfect laptop pad for my ASUS G73. Its just perfect. Adds card readers which the g73 lacks, and adds 2 more USB ports!
Its got a retractable USB cord which is a major MAJOR plus. Almost none of the pads I looked at has those.
It has 2 fans, one of the fans is DIRECTLY under one of the intakes on the g73, so another major plus. They dont move a lot of air but it shouldn't matter, any amount of air moved is better than nothing.
The PRICE of this for what you get just cant be beat.
Cons: It's light and feels flimsy; but its a laptop pad, and is just as fragile as the laptop its holding.
I would say the fans are weak but as I said above, any amount of air is better than none.
Other Thoughts: Was a perfect purchase. Absolutely 100 percent satisfied.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: FAST FAST FAST!!! This thing is screaming fast, the processor can get up to 3.0! Thats amazing for a laptop.
Surprisingly I have not had a problem with the graphics drivers. I havn't tried to update them, I have 2x 5850's in my desktop, and I have nothing but problems from them (all driver related). So, major kudos there.
The laptop doesn't heat up as much as you would think. Although I do wish the fan would speed up, as noise doesn't bother me. I haven't had any instability problems from the laptop due to heat. You can feel the heat through the laptop's keyboard when it heats up. Strangely enough you can only feel the heat on the RIGHT side of the keyboard. Not the left were the WASD keys are. IMO a great design feature.
Screen is super sharp, very bright. It's 16:9 but thats NOT a con for me. My games look amazing.
Cons: The laptop had a few issues with the 206 bios, as of 5/14/10 the 209 bios can be downloaded from ASUS' website.
A few issues from the 206 bios;
Pressing FN+ESC would freeze the laptop. Straight up freeze...super strange this didn't get fixed in beta testing...
There was a hardware conflict with the keyboard, some keystrokes wouldn't register. I never noticed it in the 206 bios (I used the laptop for 4 days under 206), but some people of forums have.
The laptop throttles the CPU at 20-35 percent battery to about 900Mhz, so you get about 5 fps in any game. Thats not really an issue, but the problem was, after you plugged the laptop back in, it would speed bad up until a reboot. Fixed in 209 bios.
The cpu OC's itself when needed. I had an issue where the cpu was detecting it needed to OC itself in Half Life 2. So I'd have 60 fps, then 25 for a few seconds, then 60, then 10 for about a minute. with 209 bios its much smarter about OCing.
Every other con is nitpicky biz
Other Thoughts: Overall I am extremely pleased with this purchase. Other than the issues from the 206 bios, there have been no other issues. This beast has run everything I've thrown at it. Can't wait to start LANing with this thing.READ FULL REVIEW
