This review is from: WINEGARD J-Mount for DBS Satellite Dish / Outdoor TV Antenna
Pros: I needed the longer pole featured by this product so that my different DISH antenna could "see" different satellites with new look angles. With the original shorter post, the dish reflector bumped the roof structure before the proper alignment could be achieved.
This item is of good quality construction with a durable finish. It allows the dish post to be mounted closer horizontally to the mounting plate than the DISH mount that it replaced. The original DISH mount horizontal distance is about 9 inches, and the horizontal offset dimension with this mount is only about 4 inches. That means the dish has less "off-center" force on the mount plate, and the DISH weight is centered more directly above the new mounting plate. That results in the mount having less lateral forces, and is therefore more secure. However, please see comments in the "Other thoughts" portion of this review!
Cons: The distance between the "pivot" bolt and the adjustment bolts that secure the post to the mounting plate is different from the original DISH (AND DIRECTV) mounting assemblies. That means the post cannot be removed, and the new post assembled to the original mount plate. The mount plate must also be replaced. Fortunately though, the mounting plate hole pattern to the building structure are identical, so the original holes on the building will match the new mounting plate.
Other Thoughts: Be sure the house eave (If so mounted) will allow the post portion of the mount to clear the roof structure "overhang". so that the post can be installed vertically as the antenna will require.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: It works all right, and I have had no difficulty with failures, especially the dreaded BSOD. The speed seems to be about average for SSD devices. The cost was reasonable.
Other Thoughts: I bought this to serve as a backup for my Plextor PX-256M5Pro SSD drive, that contains my OS. After I installed Windows 7 Pro, I cloned this drive and disconnected it electrically. It will not be connected during normal use. it will be re-cloned if I make major changes to the active "C" drive in my computer.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit
Pros: I appreciated the faster, less complicated installation process. There was no need to search the internet hardware or DVDs that sometimes comes with the hardware items.
I installed one of these OSs on a new build for my wife in 2010, and she has had almost no trouble with the Win 7 during the past 4 years.
Cons: I was involuntarily forced to use Win 7 after support for my XP Professional OS ceased. Win XP was excellent, and easier to use than Windows 7. Access steps in Win 7 are more complicated than XP was.
Other Thoughts: I did increase the system RAM from 4 GB (3 GB accessed with XP) to a total of 12 GB with Win 7.
Perhaps I will get more used to Windows 7 in the near future.
