ASUS P8H61-I (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: more than 1 year

Pros: Problems once again connecting to the internet at top speeds. Contacted Benson at Newegg_ASUS_MBSupport@asus.com and he helped me to troubleshoot the issue. Basically, he told me to download drivers from the Manufacturer's website (Realtek) instead of from the ASUS website for the Ethernet port. This fixed my problem. Thanks!!

Cons: Wish ASUS would not make their users go to another website for drivers that should be available on their website for their motherboard.

1 out of 5 eggs And even more problems... 02/15/2012

This review is from: ASUS P8H61-I (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard

Pros: See previous review.

Cons: After my last review, ASUS found a replacement board and sent it to me (after sending me a prepaid shipping label). My happiness at this turn of events didn't last, however, when I found that the replacement had the same defect as the original (i.e., not connecting to the Internet at it's top rated speed). Starting on 2/7/12, I spoke to 11 first level tech.support people in a week before finally being successfully transferred to a third-time RMA person who, after determining that my board was indeed defective, issued me another pre-paid shipping label.

Other Thoughts: Once again, my home server is down because of problems with this motherboard and especially with ASUS's horrible tech. support. I can't tell you how often I was put on hold over the last week (in order to speak to a higher level tech support person, a supervisor, or someone in the RMA dept.), only to be unceremoniously disconnected. I also was promised call backs several times which never occurred. I can only hope (perhaps naively) that my third time RMAing this motherboard does the trick...

Pros: Worked fine from 6/20/11 until the end of November (5 months total).

Cons: The built-in ethernet port stopped working at the end of November. I RMA'd the motherboard to ASUS and they returned it to me "fixed" at the beginning of this year. Unfortunately, while the ethernet port now works, it doesn't connect at it's top speed. I tried troubleshooting the problem with ASUS's help, but nothing worked. They initally told me that they'd send me another motherboard and pay for shipping of the defective board back to them if they had a replacement in stock. I had to wait 1 1/2 weeks (and make at least 7 calls to their tech. support people in IN) in order to find out that they don't have a replacment and now are expecting me to follow the normal RMA procedure once again. So basically I have to pay for shipping a second time in order for them to fix a problem they said was fixed already. I also will be without the motherboard that runs my home server for several more weeks.

Other Thoughts: ASUS claims that the reason they couldn't tell me sooner if a replacement motherboard was in stock was because they were moving their inventory from CA to IN. Strange how Newegg can have it in stock but the manufacturer (who's a multi-national corporation) doesn't. Even if they didn't have a replacement of the exact same board, the least they could do would be to either send me another comparable one and/or pay for my shipping costs (since their poor tech. support and QA led to my needing to RMA the board for a second time). Based on my experinces, I cannot and will not recommed this board to others!!
