This review is from: Sedna PCI 3 + 1 Port 1394A (Firewire) Adapter Card with Low Profile Metal Bracket
Pros: This was one of the only cards I could find with an internal header pin so that I could use the port on my case. Works well and had no real issues.
Cons: None so far. The one thing that concerned me was how it installed. I put in the card and booted up my Win 8.1 Enterprise custom rig. There was NO indication of Windows recognizing new hardware. There was NO Windows popup or sound or anything. There was NO new IEEE1394 icon in the Control Panel or Network Connections. Going to the Device Manager and selecting "Scan for Hardware Changes" did nothing (making me think that it was not recognized and was DOA). The only way this showed that it was working was that I now had an item for "IEEE 1394 host controllers" in the Device Manager which I didn't know if that was it or not (due to no 'new' hardware). The only way I could test it out was to hook up the camera and turn it on. Sure enough, it recognized my camera via FireWire, so I guess it did install, just as silently as possible though.
Other Thoughts: I used this specifically to record all my 8mm videos to PC. It was over 60hrs worth of video all done within a week and some days. The only issues I had was that after about 12hrs or recording at a time, that the software failed to properly capture the video resulting in a failed video AFTER it was done with the 2hr tape and failed 25gb video. I still don't know if this was due to the card, the slightly buggy software, or the camera not properly pushing out correct data through the FireWire port.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: First of all, I am very satisfied with this product. 2 Multi-colored LED strips that are bright enough to light up the whole case for this price is great. Colors are nice, but the remote's color button chart is a little off for what they represent, but isn't a big problem for me. Read the cons below.
Cons: On the remote, the red, green and blue are fantastic, along with the variations of green and blue are accurate. But for the variations of red, the color for reddish orange is more of a yellow with only a very slight bit of orange. The color for orange is yellow with a very slight bit of a green tint. The light orange is a very bright lime green. The color for yellow is almost the nvidia green color. I wouldn't be using those colors anyway but just thought I would advise someone of this in case they wanted it for those reddish color variations. Also the color white shows up with that blueish "cool" color affect that you sometimes get with LED's; not a perfect white.
Other Thoughts: The middle blue variation which is the darkest purple color almost creates a black light affect; very cool. Also some people have complained about the tape not being sticky enough. I have mine attached to the door of my case, the HAF932 Advanced, and being a metal case/door I can say that it's sticking just fine, as I'm also not letting the weight of the cables pull it down as much as I can either.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I got this case off a well known auction site for cheaper, was just a brand new open box item. This is a very nice case. Has lots of room to do most anything you want on the inside. It also has great cable management capabilities. Only the Advanced version has the all black interior, which this one is and it looks real awesome. Help keeps my parts a lot cooler than my old case even when the door was off.
Cons: My only 2 gripes with this case is, 1) that the front grill is made of plastic and not steel like the rest of it. My old case had a steel front which made it easy to find a place to grab to pick up. With this one you have to reach completely under the case to pick it up if you are going to move it. And, 2) the front blue power LED is so bright it’s almost unbearable. In a pitch black room it lights it up so much you could read a book. To even look at it head on feels like you’re staring at a blue laser pointer at times.
Other Thoughts: I sometimes sleep with my PC on, so I originally thought the red LED fan was going to be too bright but it’s actually not. It’s so close to the end of the red spectrum it’s almost unnoticeable even with how big it is in that it doesn’t shine everywhere at night. The small blue power LED is 10 times worse as mentioned above. Also, it’s a really big case, so just simply ‘moving’ it is not so simple if you’re in a rush or have lots of heavy parts inside. Also the back opening behind where the motherboard sits that I assume is for being able to aid in installing aftermarket heatsinks does not line up properly with the motherboard I have, so I do not know what to say about that.READ FULL REVIEW
