YAMAHA RX-V573BL 7.1-Channel Network AV Receiver
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

2 out of 5 eggs Died After 4 Months 11/16/2013

This review is from: YAMAHA RX-V573BL 7.1-Channel Network AV Receiver

Pros: Nice sound while it worked. Buy it cheap and take a chance. But know that while the Yamaha warranty is 2 years (a big reason I picked the brand), their customer service is unbelievably slow, uncommunicative, and not very friendly. (I'm putting this under "Pros" because they did in fact finally honor the warranty.)

Cons: Audio suddenly died after 4 months. After I got it back from the Yamaha certified shop for warranty repair (two months) the HDMI no longer worked. Yamaha customer service took 6 weeks to issue an RMA so I could send it to them. Two weeks after that they sent me a V575 replacement receiver. Hopefully this one will work longer, but I'm no longer confident in Yamaha quality or customer service.

Other Thoughts: A big reason I chose this unit was the zone B capability. But Yamaha doesn't include separate zone B volume control like other receivers I've had. The levels are set in the initial setup and after that zone B volume changes according to the main volume control for zone A. In my opinion this cheapens the whole idea of having 2 zones.
