This review is from: nMEDIAPC Black Aluminum / Acrylic / Steel HTPC 6000B ATX Media Center / HTPC Case
Pros: First off, this case has been updated since Newegg has posted their pictures and before some of the negative reviews. Most of these negatives have been addressed in this update from nMediaPC. First, DVD is no longer displayed on the drive tray opening, and instead it has been replaced with the BluRay logo (finally). Also, the "sharp edges" problem must have been resolved as well because all of the edges have been rolled and don't present any problem whatsoever for me. Additionally, the usb ports have been updated, where there used to be 2 usb 2.0 ports in the front, there is now 1 2.0 port and 1 3.0 port. Finally, the drive cage has been updated to allow the installation of around 6 3.5" drives and 1 2.5" drive, as well as the same optical drive position. All in all, this update makes this case well worth the money and it has been a pleasure to work with.
Cons: Airflow could be better & the fans need replacing because they are just too loud for an htpc case. They aren't so loud they take over other HT components, but they are loud enough that I didn't think twice about replacing them. Since this seems to be a problem with just about every htpc case, I didn't knock off an egg.
Other Thoughts: There was another reviewer who complained that Newegg has the dimensions recorded wrong. All of the dimensions are correct except for the depth, which is actually just shy of 17" at the longest point. Not as much as the other reviewer claimed, but enough that I thought it warranted noting to others that are concerned with the size.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: NETGEAR XAVB1004-100NAS Powerline AV Adapter Kit With Ethernet Switch Up to 200Mbps
Pros: - Plug & Play
- As others have stated not anywhere near 200Mbps but still good speed. Blows my wireless N internet connection speed out of the water plus the added reliability of a wired connection.
- I was afraid of having interference problems or the device getting bogged down because I am plugging it into the same wall outlet as my TV, HTPC, Blu Ray player, 360, and Sat box. But it works great.
Cons: - Price is relatively high but something I needed for my home theater setup so it was justified.
- Included software is complete bull. Don't even install it because it doesn't work; not like you need it anyway unless you want to manually set up security or QOS settings.
- Security button doesn't seem to work for me but why would you need it? Someone isn't going to come to your house with a powerline adapter just to steal your internet...
Other Thoughts: Make sure that you have an open space to plug straight into the wall and not into a power strip or surge protector.READ FULL REVIEW
