This review is from: LG HBS-900 Silver TONE INFINIM Wireless Stereo Headset
Pros: Retractable wires
Comfortable to ware
Audible reading of text messages, battery charge state, and time
Easy to find, access, and use controls
Blue tooth paired with my phone and laptop
Has worked well as a phone head set. I am on calls about 3 hours a day at work.
Cons: None yet.
Other Thoughts: I used an older set of LG 700s before I got these. At first I was disappointed in the sound quality of the 900s. I changed the ear gels to a different size and made sure they were pushed all the way down on the ear buds. After that the sound quality improved and the sound was better then the older 700s.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: The keyboard is one of the best I have used. I have a wired full keyboard connect when at my desk but I find myself using the laptop keyboard anyway.
Powerful and fast. The SSD drive for the OS speeds up boot time. I have all my programs installed on the physical 7200 RPM D drive but I can still notice a faster, more consistent load time for games and other programs.
The option to autocratically turn off the track pad when a USB mouse is connected is a nice add. I am still learn to use this track pad.
I have a mid level gaming ( i7 CPU, Nivida GeForce GTX 560, Window 7) tower that is about 3 years old and this laptop defiantly out preforms it. I play Guild Wars II and I no longer see lag in the game when there are large number of players in an inclosed space.
The laptop is lite and seems very well built except for the plastic around the front of the display.
The display is very bright, and crisp. I have a 25 inch monitor connected and I still use the laptop display for some things because it looks so good. The font is small because of the high resolution and 15 inch display size but with Windows 8 you can adjust the font size to adapt if needed. I wear glasses and the native font size is fine when setting close to the laptop for me.
Camera imaged is good.
I like that the power light is blue for the Intel HD graphics and amber when using the Nvidia GeForce.
Sound system works great for gaming with a good head set. Built in speakers do provide some directional affect. The sound quality is average for a high end laptop. There is only so much you can do with such small space.
Lighted MSI gaming icon on the back of the display is a nice add.
Cons: This are all small issues and have little affect on my overall satisfaction.
Run your finger from the back edge of the display to the front and you can feel the sharp edge of the flimsy plastic around the front of the display. It seem so out of place considering the sold high quality of everything else on the laptop. If your going to have a week area this is the place to do it so its not that big a deal to me.
LED lights under the keys look impressive. I did not think I would care much about the lighting but I enjoy the look. That said, not all the keys on my keybaord have lighted LEDs all the way around the keys. Most keys have lighted LEDs under each corner of the key. The front LEDs do not light on F7, F8, F9, F11 and over half the keys on the numeric pad. I did call technical support about this and they said not all key have the same level a active LEDs. It is not noticeable until you set directly in from of the keys for a while.
The laptop is wider than most 15 inch laptops. I suspect this is related to the good cooling solution this laptop has. This will decrease the options for laptop bags. It does comes with it's own laptop sleeve. The fact that is weighs less than my 14 inch work laptop and is a half inch thinner makes up for it!
Other Thoughts: I work in IT so I am around laptops all the time. I am very pleased with this laptop and the ones at work seem cheap compared to this one now. I am satisfied with the laptop and I fully expect it will meet my gaming, and work from home needs for several years.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: I have not had any issues with the laptop. I was pleased to see that it was not over loaded with demo applications and advertisements for other applications. It did come with a trial version of Microsoft Office and a trial version Norton. I uninstalled both of them and installed Open Office and Trend Antivirus.
The laptop does come with a recovery DVD and driver DVD.
The keyboard has larger keys then some other laptops which makes it more like a normal desktop laptop.
The case seems sturdy. I read some reviews that the LCD would bend easy but it is fine. Yes if you really try you can bend it some but it seems well protected. I work with HP and Lavono laptops at work. The Lanovo (IBM) LCD is stouter but they have been know for strong laptop cases.
I played with the video cam for a few minutes and its quality is good for a built in video cam. I like that the camera can be rotated 180 degrees so it can face out the back of the LCD display.
Cons: The speakers are OK for a laptop. I have heard worse! They are in a good location on top of the laptop between the LCD and the keyboard.
The laptop is heavy when you add it and the power pack in a laptop bag. Some of the other 15' laptops are a little lighter but not by much.
The laptop is wider then most 15' laptops and I had to look at a number of 15” bags to find one it would fit in.
The top of the laptop where your palms rest does get warm but it is not bad.
Battery life is average for it size. Using the Power4Gear software that comes with the laptop you can get about an 1 hour and 45 minutes in battery saving mode. In normal mode it will last about 50 minutes playing a DVD or gaming.
Other Thoughts: Wireless system worked great out of the box. It found my home network and after typing in my security info I got right in. I like the physical switch on the front to turn it off to save power.
The display is very clear and the viewing angle is better then some other laptops I have used.
I was looking for a low cost gaming laptop to play Vanguard. After looking at Toshiba, HP, Dell, and Gateway this laptop had the most gaming power for the dollar.
Vanguard is like WOW or Ever Quest but it has much higher graphics details such as the leaves moving in the wind and etc. It also is a lot more demanding on the video card, CPU, and hard drive.
I was pleased to see how well Vanguard preformed on this laptop. . The ATI 2800 (512) video card works well.
