Pros: aluminum construction
small 3.5 connector (can use with cell phone with out taking off case)
many size fittings
Cons: cable is a little on the thin side might become an issue over time
cable is slightly on the short side
mids are a little garbled but nothing noticeable by my friends who I had try them
Pros: 7 ports each with its own on off switch and indicator lights
External power that is able to handle multiple high power devices at once.
I have transferred data from a 1.6 GB/s RAID to 4 separate passport style HDDs plugged into this hub and all 4 were 120 MB/s+. I have had other hubs in the past that start to cap out far lower then the USB (2 or 3) are capable of when splitting the signal like that and this one seems to have no issue at all with it. I do not know what this hub actually caps out at in real world use but I have not found it.
Cons: Cons are few however;
The ports are set in a row parallel with the switches, now this has a pleasing look it however makes it so if you have wide flash drives you will have to stagger them to make them fit as the ports are very close to each other. (-0.5 eggs)
The lights on mine after 1+ year have not burned out, however they are noticeably dimmer on the ports i use the most. (They still work so no eggs off for that.)
The ports them selves are a little on the flimsy side. I was not paying close attention and plugged a drive in backwards, now most just will not let it go in at all unless you push very hard. This one bent enough to let my drive go in and (since it was a metal flash drive) short out the hub and when i noticed what I did and pulled it out the plastic inside broke off. The hub powered down and a power cycle it came back up just fine however I can not use that port any more (since the plastic bit inside is broken). (Since this is not, for the most part, the hubs fault only -0.5 eggs)
Other Thoughts: A few things I would like to see on this. The case be metal, more reliable LED's, and a stronger build on the ports themselves.
With all of that said: I would gladly buy another one if I needed another USB 3.0 hub.
Pros: Low temps (Idle 24º C - 100% Load 2+ hour 56º C)
Great performance (9.8k passmark raiting (O.C. on PCIe 2.0)
Low (ish) power consumption (about 215-250 Watts at load)
Very quiet (Can not hear it unless I manually turn fans up)
I replaced my GTX 480 with an aftermarket heatsink with this card and it gets me almost triple the frame rates on every game I have tried at about half the temps and about 25% less power. Even when I over clocked/volt it to the point just under where I was getting artifacting and tears the max the temp got was 75ºC. Granted this is running on a PCIe 2.0 slot ATM but still a dramitic improvement on previous cards. Would gladly recommend this card to anyone wanting to get the most out of there games. Even the molex adapters have braided cables.
Cons: No ability to easily connect an external fan controller to his unit. However, it runs so cool and quiet it is not really a concern.
Seems to have issues comming back from sleep. I do not think this is the cards fault rather then drivers, and it only seems to happen once in about 40 times waking up the system so it is not truly an issue, more of an inconvenience. It also might just be a conflict with something else. I am not marking it down at all for this since I do not know for sure that the card is to blame.
Other Thoughts: The molex braided cables are not bundled. Each cable in the connector is braided separate so all 3-6 cables are still loose. Seems like a waist to wrap them if it does not help air flow at all. However, I feel most people buying this type of card will not be using them since they have a PSU new enough to have the connectors anyway.
I was able to find this card for $340 (after rebates and coupons) on another site and I truly feel bad for not ordering it through newegg since I love their site and customer service but I could not resist that kind of a discount.
