Pros: Small, allows quick disk swap for tasks like wiping or cloning harddrives. No messing around with screws or sharp metal contraptions.
It supports USB 3.0 (and comes with a USB 3.0 cable).
External power supply allows power hungry 3.5" HDDs to be connected.
Cons: Loose connector. There is no locking mechanism, so once the connector is plugged in, and the switch is turned on, I am afraid to touch anything.
Insufficient documentation, and lack of web site support (the model # cannot even be found on the Rosewill website). I had a problem on my Windows 7 computer where USB drive would disconnect and reconnect every 2 seconds. I almost RMA'd the item. I had to do some research first, and it turns out USB power saving must be disabled in power settings. This was neither in the manual nor on Rosewill web site.
As for the uneven space between the device and the drive, if you put the drive on its back, there is no problem. So that's not a big issue for me.
Other Thoughts: Not all wiping software works on USB external drives. I was able to use this with Eraser.
I have tried several Harddrives in different sizes/make/model and they all worked great (they were all less than 1TB)
