Got more than what I paid for
Pros: 4th gen i5 cpu, Win 10 pro, 13.3" screen, 128GB SSD, 2x USB 3.0 Fast, quiet, and long battery life (so far)
Cons: Significant scratches on top surface, oily marks on keys, screen is not full HD (1366x768), incompatible with windows Hello despite having fingerprint reader
Overall Review: Despite being a grade A-rated refurb, it still had significant scratches and marks on top surface and a noticeable dent on the frame, which would result in a 3-star review, if not for the fact that: - came with an i5-4300u cpu running at 1.9Ghz instead of the i5-4200u 1.6Ghz as advertised - came with 8GB RAM installed instead of the 4GB advertised These were very pleasant surprises but I don't think buyers should bank on them. Hopefully it is a single DIMM so I can get a matching 8GB stick and run 16GB in Dual channel mode. If it is two 4GB sticks, then it's already in Dual channel mode and in the configuration I originally would have upgraded it to (bought a 4GB stick that I now will have to RMA) There's a lot of things this laptop is not, but nothing more it could be with such a low price tag ($260 on sale). Give me a fullHD touchscreen, 256GB SSD, and an i7, and I'd have to give you another $200-$300 for that refurb, which may be worth it to some, but not to most. Very happy so far, but I have run any objective performance tests, so this review may be updated after I have more time to play with it.
Pros: Portable, USB powered, HDMI and VGA, bright and clear image
Cons: Nominal control over settings. Basically relies on the output device to tell the monitor what resolution to display. This results in incompatibility with most devices other than computers. It fails to display my DSLR and tablet at the proper resolution. Of course, its sold as a laptop companion, so its not too surprising that it has compatibility issues.
Pros: Fits and holds a charge
Cons: Can't make the phone any better
Pros: Full-powered USB 3.0 expansion
Cons: Short USB 3.0 cable
Overall Review: Great performance, but the short cable, though expected, limits functionality. My PC is below the desk, and with the cable, I can't place the hub on the desk.
Pros: High capacity, High durability
Cons: None.
Overall Review: I put two of these in a desktop RAID. Ran SMART tests and all that, no flaws. Have had them up and running for a couple months and had no problems. Affordable option when you need a lot of secure storage.
Pros: Lets me use google voice as a home and office phone.
Cons: none
shipping woes
order was processed quickly, but standard shipping was through UPSMI, some UPS-to-postal-service hybrid that I've never heard of. After 4 days in transit, tracking stopped updating. 5 days later I call newegg customer service, who directed me to overstock customer service, who refunded the order without a fight. 2 days later the order was delivered by USPS. Good customer service, bad shipping solutions.
