5 out of 5 eggs Did the trick 12/14/2014

This review is from: StarTech SAT32MSAT257 mSATA SSD to 2.5in SATA Adapter Converter

Pros: Broken laptop had 128gb msata drive. Purchased this and repurposed perfectly working ssd drive into a desktop.

Cons: A little high priced, but cheaper than a new drive so oh well.

Crucial M550 CT1024M550SSD1 2.5
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Its 1tb and has lots of error correction/prevention built-in. Tremendous performance improvement compared to the 1tb re3 raid1 3ware 9650 array it replaced.. obviously. Noise, temperature, and electricity usage dropped significantly.

Cons: Since connecting to my system, has introduced some random reboots. Still narrowing down the issue. Have eliminated the OS drive as root cause.

Other Thoughts: System: asus z77 with 3770 cpu using onboard video. 32gb of memory with Samsung 850 512mb drive using Win 7 x64 sp1.

5 out of 5 eggs Noticeable improvement from previous SSD 11/30/2014

This review is from: SAMSUNG 850 PRO MZ-7KE512BW 2.5" 512GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Pros: It really is fast as they claim. Migration software worked well. Ran out of space on "OS only" drive 240gb SSD, this 512 should hold me over for a while even with .ost's and OneDrive Pro.

Cons: Price, but its barely a con. Its about a Benjamin over what it should cost. Assuming part of that difference is warranty expense to use accounting terms.

Other Thoughts: Migrated from a 240gb 520 to this equipment. Rest of rig is 3770 and Sabertooth z77 using Win 7 SP1 64bit and 32gb of ram.

Used the migration software and everything went smooth and fast. Did this for interest of time and to test it.

Within magician, had to change the optimizations to custom, but the over provisioning is getting an error stating the last partition is unreadable on the clone. There was only the Win7 OS partition with the default 100mb partition Windows creates.

Also enabled RAPID and it really does work. However, haven't tried it with VM Workstation and RAPID on yet, that is my only concern of compatibility.
