This review is from: TDK 8.5GB 8X DVD+R DL 50 Packs Spindle Disc Model 61611
Pros: Price and rated burning speed.
Cons: Of the first 25 discs I have used 8 would not burn on a Pioneer 207 and/or 209 Blu-Ray Burners. I also had them fail on Sony DVD Burners. At least 4 of the discs that that did burn "OK" would not play on an OPPO Blu-Ray player or an OPPO DVD player or a Sony Blu-Ray player. I don't know how many more will turn up bad but they are highly suspect.
Other Thoughts: I use TDK 50 GB and 25 GB 2x Blu-Ray rewritable disks all the time and never had a problem. I thought I would try the DVD DL disks one more time based on price - big mistake. I'm back using Verbatim DVD DL 8x discs and all is well. You get what you pay for unfortunately.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Quiet, Fast and Reliable. Bought 2 on "sale". Used for storage applications where I want fast processing of huge files.
Other Thoughts: I have several of every Raptor model that WD has made and they are all still running with no issues. Too bad the price remains relatively high as SSD's are getting cheaper.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Optical Quantum 8.5GB 8X DVD+R DL 50 Packs Spindle Logo Top Disc Model OQDPRDL08LT
Pros: Price. Look and "feel" like quality discs. Read the positive Newegg reviews and thought I'd give them a try.
Cons: So far I have tried to burn 14 discs and 4 of them have failed on three different burners. Hopefully, the ratio will improve as I use the remainder of the discs - but - my confidence factor is pretty low at this point.
Other Thoughts: I have always used Verbatim 8X DL discs in the past and never had a problem. However, they are getting harder to find on sale! I suppose at a ~25% failure rate the Optical Quantum discs are still a "bargin".READ FULL REVIEW
