This review is from: ASUS Black 12X Blu-ray Burner SATA BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS
Pros: - Cheap
- Priced competitive
- Installs as easy as it gets
- I have a working blu ray burner again, yah!!!
Cons: - Got the 4MB cache version, but is advertized as 8MB cache version. Needs to be updated to say 4MB cache.
Other Thoughts: - My Plextor LB950SA very recently stopped detecting and reading burned 25GB and 50GB discs but it still read older burned discs for some reason. I tried the a blu ray lens cleaner disc and it didnt help. I tried air in a can and that didn't help either. Probably the laser / read hardware for the blu ray starting to die. My previous burner lasted me exactly 2 years.
If you want to watch blu ray movies on the computer, power dvd, vlc player and media classic are all good. Asus isn't going to supply licensed software because it would raise the cost of the burner people.
This review is from: maxell 190054 Lens Cleaner for Blu Ray
Pros: - Inexpensive
- Can select from a large group of features
- Quick to clean blu ray burner drive
Cons: - None
Other Thoughts: I used CyberLink PowerDVD to access and run the cleaner disc for my computer.
I was using Verbatim 50 GB 6x discs and one day, the burned discs wouldn't read or detect, yet they burned fun and played on my home theater blu ray player. Couldn't be the burning software (Nero 14 and ImgBurn). Verbatim 50GB 6x discs aren't the issue. The burner wasn't dirty either, after running the lens cleaner discs 7x in a row. It must be the read diode or laser that is dying in the drive, so I ordered a new blu ray burner, this time from Asus, try a different brand. My Plextor LB950SA had the latest 1.04 firmware and worked great until very recently, read detect disc issues. Lasted me 2 years before it started having issues.
This review is from: HyperX DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Model DTHX30/64GB
Pros: - fastest USB 3.0 thumb drive on the market, for now
- well built with thick rubber housing to prevent damage
- cool color, blue and black
- cap is snug and not loose
- 64GB should be enough for now
- not super expensive
Cons: - none
Other Thoughts: Make sure you have a USB 3.0 cable. Otherwise, if you use your old USB cable or USB 2.0 cable, your transfer speeds will be slow. USB 3.0 cables are cheap and will increase the transfer speeds big time. Great for copying a movie to this device, watching it on the blu ray player, smooth with no hick ups.READ FULL REVIEW
