ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1750 Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab
  • Verified Owner

Pros: Just about everything is better and faster with this router, like the wireless speed & range. But the single most significant thing was how fast the router responded to configuration changes. It must have been the 256mb of memory.

Cons: The only con is that you must go through the initial dashboard setup first. Then, and only then, can you go to more advanced settings. Even a firmware update must wait for the first initial setup to be completed.

Other Thoughts: Can't wait for the wireless AC USB adapters to come out!

OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2 Max IOPS PCI-E 240GB PCI-Express 2.0 x4 MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) RVD3MIX2-FHPX4-240G

  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Fast. Better than any previous RevoDrive - and I've had them all. Easy to setup, works well, no issues.

Cons: Price. It's expensive. Even on sale, there is a premium for this speed. For example, going from a 240 GB Vertex 3 Max IOPS to this is about a 25% speed increase. But the cost is about a 100% increase (about (double).

Other Thoughts: CrystalDiskMark speed tests:

Crucial RealSSD C300 2.5

Pros: Very fast. Smooth. No problems. How fast? My Intel X25-M 80 GB was a 7.3 in Windows 7 64 bit. This is a 7.9!!

Cons: Price. Sata III cable and enclosure needed. Price.

Other Thoughts: You will need a Sata III cable, which comes with most Sata III motherboards. This will work in an icy dock enclosure at full SATA III speed. 7.9!!
Rarely do items meet and exceed. This does.
I am going to buy second one after I take out a second mortgage.
