This review is from: TRENDnet TEW-733GR N300 Wireless Gigabit Router IEEE 802.11b/g/n, IEEE 802.3/3u/3ab
Pros: Preconfigured wireless, gig ports, not cisco/Linksys, price, MT7620A 580Mhz CPU, it's no paperweight so the weight doesn't matter, better than my Linksys wrt54G that ran ddwrt firmware 250Mhz served its purpose for many years.
Cons: I have Comcast blast 105Mbps, direct to modem I get roughly 91Mbps (small suburban neighborhood) all tests done using speedtest.net and speedtest.comcast.com, going through this router cat5e 10ft. I get 60Mbps (wrt54g 40Mbps), go on 802.11n (iphone 4s) I get 40-50Mbps (wrt54g 15Mbps). Drops further I get away from the router which is on 1st floor office desk go to 2nd story opposite side of home 1900sqft 20Mbps (wrt54g 5Mbps). Wood/sheetrock interior. Using WPA2 AES.
Other Thoughts: So while it's definitely better than the WRT54G, I still do not understand why the bottleneck between this device and Comcast modem. Wireless status page for my 11n devices shows the rates as 35-65Mbps. No where near the 300Mbps displayed on the specs.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: ASRock A785GMH/128M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Pros: new egg description & stock, hdmi output, 8 channel audio, SATA ports, accessories, template, and documentation included.
Cons: no 1394 support.
Other Thoughts: board was used in a replacement for stock Gateway GT5644E tower. That board was an ECS mobo that would randomly have RAM issues. This was the closest mobo i could find on newegg and the other reviews for this board supported my decision. 2 things were sacraficed, 1394/firewire and LPT port, fair tradeoff for HDMI & DVI output.
board is slightly smaller (2") than stock GW board which leaves the power connector end without footing support. the SATA_1 connector has some play, i assume a bad solder job.
board comes with OC software and instant boot software. Power saving software is only compatible with AM2+ CPUs, not AM2...I'll save trees another way.
