Pros: You can rent a cable card from your local cable company for about 1/8 the cost of a STB. I had 2, 4 tuner cards in s server that worked well. With this I don't need to have the server running to watch or record TV and it has 6 tuners. Once a program records it then transfers to my WHS and then I can watch it on any machine.
Cons: Just like the internal cards this may hang up once in a while. Once or twice every 2-3 months live TV will just stop. When I check my network I don't see the InfiniTV6 there. Reboot the InfiniTV6 and it reappears and I can watch TV. It's not overheating, it just stops. I had to reboot Motorola STB too so it's not like it's any worse than a STB.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SiliconDust HDHomeRun Dual HDHR3-US HD Digital Network Attached TV Tuner Device
Pros: 2 tuners
Cons: only has 2 tuners, 4 would be great.
Other Thoughts: Came 5/14, connected in less than 5min. WMC setup took about 10min. pulls all of my local channels in. I am using 2 amplified UHF antennas and a distribution amp so the reception is great. If you are using just a piece of wire your reception will suck. Use a decent antenna and put an amp right @ the antenna to over come any cable loss. Have one tuner dedicated to the Bedroom HTPC and one to the game room HTPC as OTA backup. Each has a networked InfiniTV cable card tuner as well. Will be getting another for the main desktop rig which is what I do all of my DVR recording on.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Compact, low power. Used to build a HTPC. HD & SD video played through the HDMI port great as did music, photo's and live TV. Went into and out of sleep mode almost as fast as a STB.
Cons: Purchased in May, Died after 3 months. Have read other reviews that the board died after several weeks or months. Built 2 with this board. hope the other HTPC doesn't die.
Other Thoughts: I've always had very good luck w/ Gigabyte in so far as performance and reliability. This board is a real disappointment.READ FULL REVIEW
