This review is from: SAMSUNG D3 Station 2TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STSHX-D201TDB Black
Pros: I bought this external drive in Sept of 2013 and use it for backups with SyncBackSE and AOMEI both I recommend highly. I installed Win10 all the way to making a disk image. I shut down to reboot and test the whole thing and the memory stick in slot one failed trashing the boot loader and the bios. Had to replace the mother board. Restored the image off of this 2 year old Seagate Barracuda drive in this Samsung box and everything was back up. I am going to buy another of these drives. I don't know what the MTBF is on these drives they are not high end NAS drives but certainly good enough for the everyday user. And it saved my rear end!
Cons: None. If the drive failed now it would be worth every penny I paid.
Other Thoughts: Some people have had a hard time with these but my experience has been excellent. And I will buy another one.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Lasted less than 18 months. Had continual problems with wireless connectivity on all PC's. Ultimately woke up one Sunday morning to find wireless was dead but PC's had good wireless signal! PC's could not connect through wireless so ran Cat5 to bypass temporarily. Lan ports and DHCP in unit was still working. Working on RMA with Netgear will see how that goes and follow up. Will just use replacement for guest access.
I have come to believe all this consumer grade stuff is built on low levels of reliability.
Cons: Nothing special. Not reliable. Short range
Other Thoughts: This unit is dated and only has a 100m lan port. I would not recommend purchasing this.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Great price
Never had trouble with WD drives
Other Thoughts: Never had a problem with WD drives but I understand others have. Luck of the draw because there is a small failure rate with all hardware. I used this drive to clone and backup an XP hard drive that hiccuped informing me I better change it out. This drive is up and running 27-7. I used AOMEI free imaging and partition software to do the image and it is working perfectly. I could not have asked for a better and easier solution. I highly recommend the drive and AOMEI software. Acronis was offered free from WD but the download was huge and I have a slow connection so I went with AOMEI and it has more features and is very simple to use.READ FULL REVIEW
