G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9Q-8GBXL

Pros: Flawless operation under XMP profile on both a Sabertooth P67 and a Sabertooth Z77. Don't waste your money on expensive high-frequency, low-latency RAM. This is the sweet-spot where price and performance meet.

Cons: None whatsoever, as long as you know your CPU cooler will clear the heat spreaders.

Other Thoughts: Buy this. The exotic stuff will get you gains which can only be measured via synthetic benchmarks.

ASUS HD7970-DC2T-3GD5 Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: This card was purchased for a 5760 x 1080 rig to run iRacing. All monitors are connected via DisplayPort. It absolutely destroys the game; the toughest cars and tracks yield the highest framerates yet seen for a single-GPU solution by iRacing benchmarkers (multi-GPU is hit-or-miss with iRacing).

Cons: I'm nervous about this card based on others' experiences. I don't even know if mine will run BF3 or any other "problem" games as reported by others. I don't really care--all I play is iRacing. I am worried about a failure, but after about 20 hours of hard use, all seems well.

Other Thoughts: iRacing is solidly CPU-limited (15-2500k at 4.3 GHz). I've seen up to 96% usage and core temps in the mid-50's and VRM temps in the mid-90's... not bad. It's quiet and very fast. I'll try for a mild OC very soon (after I max my CPU OC).
