TRENDnet TEW-687GA N450 Wireless Gaming Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g/n Ethernet Port Up to 450Mbps Wireless Data Rates WPA2
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Has high functionality in high speed wi-fi (Wireless) internet, especially for XBOX, but also for laptop and even desktop needs.

Little to no signal loss. I haven't done a test on how many of the packets really make it through, but since there have been no problems running it at the highest speeds I'm going to get an ISP to function at, I'm not too worried that there is any packet loss or other functionality problems with this adapter - something I find really nice about this adapter...

Has a quick setup. HOWEVER - Read Con

Cons: The setup for this adapter is simple, but once setup, the adapter is extremely difficult to work with in changing settings. I know a bit of networking, and Trendnet failed me again in it's poor networking capability.

The easiest way for me to change access points with this adapter, is to do a hard reset on the adapter. It takes five minutes that way, compared to potentially twenty trying to find it on a local address. - That's pathetic.

Other Thoughts: All in all, great adapter for the price. At this time, 450 mp/s is top-end wireless speeds (local), and this adapter functions in that category.

Getting a Trendnet, I was not expecting it to work this well. I took a leap, due to a couple previous WIFI products from Trendnet of poor quality.

Recommended for any computer, xbox, playstation, or device that needs a quicker WIFI adapter. Especially to keep up.

Also, the networking problem mentioned in some other reviews is due to how it's initially setup AND the local network. Another reviewer said to contact support - that's your best option if you are not someone who dares venture into networking or knows their way already. Otherwise, there's an awesome guide you can download from the Trendnet site that explains the entire setup and trouble shooting.

2 out of 5 eggs Poor Quality, Low Durability 12/01/2011

This review is from: SONY MDR-V6 3.5mm/ 6.3mm Connector Circumaural Studio Monitor Series Headphone

Pros: Pros:
Charges Controllers well enough. You don't have to have the controller in place to charge the battery pack. It only uses one USB port on the XBOX for two charging docks. On/Off switch. Light.

Cons: Very poor quality. The plastic is thin and cheap. Bulky in design, could have been designed much smaller and with more space-orientation in mind. Charging Pins are fragile, be careful!

Other Thoughts: Overall:1.8 (Ratings 1-5 Poor,Low,Apathetic,Above,Great)
Adaptability: 3
Mobility: 1.5
Durability: 2
User-Friendly: 3
Quality: 1.5
Interface/s: 3.5
Use Of Space: 2
Functionality: 3.5
Expected Life: 1 (Fear of charging pins breaking, already had to have them fixed)
Low Or High End: 2.5

Good enough. Just fear for life of item expectancy.

Western Digital WD Black WD1502FAEX 1.5TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5

Pros: Pros: WDD is a name for Hard Drives that I feel I can rely on. Each Hard Drive generally averages two years (about how quickly technology loses it's use in a fast-pace market)
But I have had their hard drives last up to five years (Obviously not the most advanced at the end)
This Hard Drive has shown me no different thus far.

Cons: Lacks interface with older (non-sata) motherboards/devices. Would be better (NEEDS to be) with a larger cache and higher RPM to catch up with the speed of data transfer (UP TO '6 Gb/s' SATA transfer)

Other Thoughts: Pros: WDD is a name for Hard Drives that I feel I can rely on. Each Hard Drive generally averages two years (about how quickly technology loses it's use in a fast-pace market)
But I have had their hard drives last up to five years (Obviously not the most advanced at the end)

Durable, Reliable, Good Bench, Worth Cost, Brand Name

Loud, Lacking Technology

Overall:4.2 (Ratings 1-5 Poor,Low,Apathetic,Above,Great)
Adaptability: 3.5
Mobility: 4
Durability: 4.5
User-Friendly: 3.5
Quality: 5
Interface/s: 3.5
Multiple Use: 4 (With external case)
Functionality: 4.5
Expected Life: 5
Low Or High End: 4.5

Got this to replace a WDD HDD IDE interface, and other IDE HDD. Was kind of disappointed with the lack of interface even with newer software. Even Linux had a hard time adapting to the SATA drive without some help (IDE would not have required extra effort)
