This review is from: EcoNet Controls Z-Wave Vent 4" x 10 " White
Pros: - Easy to set up.
- Saves gobs of energy.
- Looks nice.
- Two AA batteries last >1 year; if lithium, 2 years.
- Nice and quiet when they operate.
Cons: - None. Far surpassed my expectations.
Other Thoughts: Installation and setup was a breeze. Works great with my Samsung SmartThings hub (gen 2).
Two really nice surprises I wasn't expecting:
1. You can programmatically set it to open, closed, or in 10% increments in-between.
2. It's amazing what you can do with the SmartThings android app. For example, for my office vent, I have it open at 7am, and close at midnight; and if I leave the house (known via my phone's presence), it closes, and if I come back home, it opens. It works like a charm!
Note that the 4x10" dimension refers to the duct. The vent cover is, of course, larger -- just shy of 8x14" (ballpark).
Pros: Blazing fast, of course.
Cons: None. Popped it in and it's worked like a charm from the beginning. (I've had it for about 2 months now.)READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Silver White Kanex iAdapt V2 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter w Audio
Pros: After trying a few of these where the audio passthrough didn't work, I was thrilled when this one did. We're running Windows 7 on a Macbook Pro 13" (~early 2012 model) and connecting it to an Insignia (~Best Buy) television. It's also an attractive little adapter.
Other Thoughts: Setup Tip: Note that in Windows a new audio playback device shows up *only when the cable is plugged in on both ends, and the TV is on and tuned to that HDMI input*, at which time you can select that playback device (on the PC) ("set as default"). Unfortunately (at least on our PC), when you later unplug it, it sets the default back to the built-in speakers rather than the headphone jack... so we have to manually go back in and change it. Ho hum.READ FULL REVIEW
