Pros: Blazing fast, of course.
Cons: None. Popped it in and it's worked like a charm from the beginning. (I've had it for about 2 months now.)READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Silver White Kanex iAdapt V2 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter w Audio
Pros: After trying a few of these where the audio passthrough didn't work, I was thrilled when this one did. We're running Windows 7 on a Macbook Pro 13" (~early 2012 model) and connecting it to an Insignia (~Best Buy) television. It's also an attractive little adapter.
Other Thoughts: Setup Tip: Note that in Windows a new audio playback device shows up *only when the cable is plugged in on both ends, and the TV is on and tuned to that HDMI input*, at which time you can select that playback device (on the PC) ("set as default"). Unfortunately (at least on our PC), when you later unplug it, it sets the default back to the built-in speakers rather than the headphone jack... so we have to manually go back in and change it. Ho hum.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: Link Depot LD-HHSE-25 25 ft. HDMI® High Speed with Ethernet Cable - Type A to Type A
Pros: Nice, long, white cable. 1080p video comes through as advertised.
Cons: 1. Does not pass the audio through. I tried switching back to my old cable, and sure enough, audio shows right up. I switch to this again, and no audio. (In Win7, I made sure to go to Sound -> Playback Devices, and with my old cable, I see "Intel Display Audio" appear, which means it's working -- you just sometimes have to click 'Set as Default' on that one. But with the new cable, no such playback device exists, which means the audio is not being carried through.) (Other notes: this was with a 2012 Macbook Pro 13" running Win7 and an Insignia TV, using a Mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter from Newegg: "Silver White OEM Kanex iAdapt V2 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter w Audio")
2. Too much plastic packaging - it's wasteful, and worse, you could cut yourself trying to open it.
Other Thoughts: Very disappointed that the audio doesn't come through.READ FULL REVIEW
