This review is from: Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive
Pros: Very fast with USB 3.0. I have two running 24/7. I am always concerned with heat in external enclosures that do not have fans, but I had had no issues with heat shutdown.
One of the drives would turn off on its own and restart. I quickly diagnosed the problem with the USB 3.0 cable not making a secure connection with the desktop. Probably a combination of the cable and port. I switched cables and the problem was resolved.
I am waiting for a price drop on the 3T and will try one then.
Cons: Really noneREAD FULL REVIEW
This review is from: WD My Book 3TB Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Storage WDBACW0030HBK-NESN
Cons: Purchased one drive. It immediately failed on file writes... took it back. Bought second drive and found it to have the same issues. I downloaded the WD Data Lifeguard software and it reported hundreds of bad sectors, this after the drive was formatted. I called WD tech support (which was excellent) and they confirmed my findings. Could be a bad batch, or perhaps a manufacturing issue (made in Thailand). In any event, I am out of time and patience and will revert to Seagate... even though I just lost a 2T external. The large (2Tb and 3Tb drives may have a USB 3.0 problem. The WD tech said they are having issues with USB 3.0.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Received all my parts for a new build yesterday, started last night and finished this morning. Absolutely NO issues... knock on wood. This is one of the larger systems I have built, so I expected issues from all sides. I turned it on and it booted up like it had been doing it for years.
The big pro is not one call had to be made to service at any of the manufacturers! That'll never happen again.
