Details are wrong!
Pros: Documentation states cam only does 1080p at 4x3 aspect (1440x1080) but it really does 1080p at 16x9 aspect (1920x1080). Makes .MOV files that Quicktime Movie Inspector reports as format H264, 1920x1080, stereo 48.000 kHz, 29.97 FPS, 6.45 mbits/sec. However header on the file incorrectly states 1440 width but none of my video editors or players pay any attention to the header. They just look at the actual video data and come up with the real 1920x1080. So it can really do the highest BluRay resolution. Macro mode with no zoom focuses at 10cm on a 16x9 field of 11 cm. In full 4x zoom the field width is 3 cm.
Cons: Silly software bug documented in the Pros above. User manual at about 100 pages still leaves some features undocumented. It's a complex box that does a lot of stuff.
Overall Review: It's fun. I'm using a Transcend 16GB SDHC code 10 for storage that I bought from NewEgg. This holds 8.5 hours of 720p 16x9 video or about 10,000 5 megapixel photos. It's small and high res - so holding it still is a challenge. If you are going to upload to YouTube (which the included editing "Total Media Extreme" software does) you might need a tripod.
batteries and display DOA
Pros: Features, Honeywell name and neutral color of camera unit got me to buy it. Ultimately I got the chime did work, but display never did.
Cons: NiMh batteries in receiver were DOA and unit would not charge them. Replaced the batteries with new. With new batteries the receiver and transmitter would pair and the chime worked. However the TFT display on receiver never lit up even though receiver indicated good batteries. RMAed it for a refund.
Overall Review: BTW the receiver unable to charge symptom is charge light blinks twice slowly and then rapidly - regular charging is just slow blink.
