SYBA SD-ADA40001 SATA II To Compact Flash Adapter
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: It actually works really well. Placed this in a Supermicro 1U ATOM server and loaded Vyatta on a CF card with it.

Cons: The LED's are to bright?

SUPERMICRO SYS-5017C-MTRF 1U Rackmount Server Barebone LGA 1155 Intel C202 DDR3 1333/1066/800
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: It's a 1U server that takes up roughly about an Amp worth of power (at 115v)

Cons: It didn't come with a shroud for the Fan to CPU area

Other Thoughts: Using this to replace a ATOM processor computer that I outgrew in a Colo facility.

iStarUSA D-213-MATX Black Metal/ Aluminum 2U Rackmount microATX Server Chassis
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: It's cheap and works in my rack. The 2u profile is able to house a standard power supply, plus many low profile components. The small footprint doesn't overcrowed. The system is light enough to mount on a relay rack, or by it's ears in a normal rack. I'll probably purchase another one to replace a 4U box.

Cons: As others have mentioned, I'd suggest changing the two front fans. The current stock ones produce a large amount of noise. For home users this gets annoying quickly. I'd suggest purchasing a low dBA / high CFM fan if you're NOT placing this in a data center.

Other Thoughts: As mentioned use a power supply with a rear fan. A Scythe "Big Shuriken" heat sink will fit in the case. The stock AMD heat sink wasn't cutting it.. I created a air tube from plastic and use one front fan to blow air in the direction of the CPU. Otherwise it'll get a bit warm in the case.
