This review is from: WD 8TB My Book Duo Desktop RAID External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBLWE0080JCH-NESN
Pros: Works excellent - fast
Cons: I have installed two of these and own one. In 2 out of 3, we kept having USB 3.0 issues. We kept working on ASMedia drivers pulling our hair out. Turned out - the USB 3.0 cables shipped with these devices are defective. Once we replaced the cables with good quality 3.0 cables - ZERO issues since! Hope this helps others dealing with this nightmare.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Has been a great rock solid router. No issues or complaints with current firmware.
Great range and features
Cons: USB 3.0 failed recently - about 6 months outside the warranty. It will recognize any drives but looses the drive when you try to write to it. Tried firmware and a reset, did not work. Belkin / Linksys to my shock only put a 1 year warranty on one of the most expensive routers made. Seems they did not have a lot of confidence in the reliability either
The 3.0 port was important to me so will have to sell it off, noting that it has a defective port since customer service said I was outta luck
Looks like I will be going to Asus / they appear to have a 2 year warranty at least.
This review is from: ASRock AM1H-ITX AM1 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard
Pros: Excellent low power PC mobo. Works excellent. Built a beautiful compact desktop PC for business apps and it gets the job done. Using a meanwell GS GS series power supply - meter barely shows the PC using 30W at full tilt!
Cons: No matter what I have tried, I have NEVER been able to get the USB 3.0 ports to work at 3.0 speeds. The ASmedia 104 controller and drivers are a mess. Sometimes they see a 3.0 drive and sometimes they do not. But always run at 2.0 speeds capped at 25.7MB/s. This makes things painfully slow when transferring large data to a 3.0 raid system or even a 3.0 drive.
I thought i was nuts and got a bad board or processor. Built a totally separate rig - SAME THING! Did a ton of digging and updated to the latest ASmedia 3.0 drivers and still nothing. Tried to disable USB legacy support in the bios and all that did was make it so I could not get back in the bios (wireless USB receiver would not read with legacy turned off)
I also changed things up on both units to every known bios from the original, to a beta, to 1.2 to 1.4. Nothing!
Wondering if anyone else is having this issue as I am 2 for 2 with no 3.0 speed.
