Excellent

SONY Vegas Pro 11.0
SONY Vegas Pro 11.0

Pros: I've been using Vegas for over 10 years, since version 2 (still under the Sonic Foundry banner then). I've found the latest version to be another great product. The included NewBlue Titler Pro is a great addition. My primary use is editing HD footage I've taken myself with a Canon Vixia HF S21. I find the interface intuitive and easy to navigate, and highly configurable to your liking. A lot of power and flexibility. Honestly, I've never had to call support for any issue. Their online forums contain lots of useful information and will generally answer my questions. I'm running Vegas Pro 11.0, build 511, 64 bit.

Cons: None

Overall Review: I have had this and previous versions crash under inexplicable circumstances, but usually I'm not alone, and a fix, in the form of an update, is available in reasonable time. Vegas works with a wide variety of graphics cards, but the list of those that it can use to speed up rendering is short. Also, even if your card is supported and Vegas can take advantage of it, you still need to be rendering your footage using Sony's own codec to utilize the supported hardware. Check Sony's site for a list supported cards. If your video card isn't supported for hardware acceleration, then it will use the CPU instead. My system is home built: ASUS P6X58D motherboard, Six-Core Intel Core i7 980X CPU, 12GB of Corsair Dominator DDR3 1600 RAM, ASUS GTX570 video card, Western Digital VelociRaptor 600GB 10,000 RPM drive for storing video, 2 Western Digital 2TB drives for general storage, and a Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2CCA 128GB SSD for operating system and programs, running Windows Ultimate 64-bit.

Need to do a little more homework

ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Pros: NunoSmith commented on 3/19/2010, that his Core i7 820 processor wouldn't fit in the motherboard in spite of claims that the board is i7 compatible. The board is indeed i7 compatible, but the CPU needs to be a Core i7 9xx series processor, which are socket 1366 (1366 pins). The i7 8xx series are socket 1156 (1156 pins), and are therefore not compatible with this board. The specifications clearly state that the socket type and required CPU type are socket 1366. Perhaps you could make the case that Intel's naming convention is to blame here, not Asus' motherboard. Be sure to do your homework before spending your hard earned money to avoid frustration or disappointment.

Cons: None.

ViewSonic VP2365wb Black 23"IPS LCD Monitor w/4-port USB hub,height&pivot adjustment 300 cd/m2 1000:1

Pros: Great color, no dead pixels, looked great right out of the box. Screen brightness is fine (contrary to what I had read elsewhere). Won't be visible from the ISS (International Space Station) but it'll do for me. Good adjustment software. Bought from another online vendor based solely on price.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Newegg continues to set the standard by which I judge all other online retailers.

NETGEAR 24-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (JGS524)
NETGEAR 24-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (JGS524)

Pros: Affordable, and just simply works. Runs 24/7 and never a problem, no issues to date. Very pleased with purchase. Highly recommend.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Some have commented on the cooling fan noise. I have this unit setting on a desk near my computer, and my computer is louder than the units fan. The only time I hear it is when all my gear is powered down. I have this unit paired with a Netgear FVS338 and both run 24/7 flawlessly.

Very Good Upgrade

NETGEAR FVS338 Firewall
NETGEAR FVS338 Firewall

Pros: Very simple setup. I simply hooked everything up, followed the power up instructions (cable modem, FVS338, then computer), and I was online again within less than one minute. All I did afterwords was to go in and tweak the settings for my particular setup. Flawless. Been running 24/7 since purchase. Expecting same reliability as before (see other thoughts). Throughput matches the speed for which I subscribe from my broadband provider.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Impressed with Netgear reliability. Upgraded from a 7 year old Netgear RT311 that has been working 24/7 all that time with no problems. Only upgraded to be ready for more throughput from broadband provider.

Flawless

ViewSonic 20" Active Matrix, TFT LCD WSXGA+ LCD Monitor 5 ms 1680 x 1050 D-Sub, DVI-D Graphic Series VG2030WM

Pros: Been using nothing but Viewsonic monitors for 6 years (CRT's) and this is my first LCD. Purchased in June of 2007 and haven't had a bit of trouble. Excellent color, brightness, no dead pixels, very very pleased. Highly recommend.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: Bought an aftermarket DVI cable as only a VGA cable was included. Bought the cable here at Newegg.

Excellent

I received my order much quicker than I anticipated. Received a quality product in record time. Thank you. :) Here's what lead me to buying a new power supply. It may help others with diagnostics. I'd been having trouble with the reliability of my USB ports for years. I just figured the controller on the motherboard was failing. Then recently all but 2 of my 7 hard drives disappeared from my system. Only the drives attached to the SATA-III ports worked and none of the SATA-II drives came up. I knew all those drives didn't magically fail at the same time, so I just assumed that my motherboard hardware failures were spreading. Out of curiosity I went into the BIOS at boot to look around. I got to a page that showed CPU, RAM and power supply voltages. My 12V was fine, but my 5V was displayed in Red. It was outputting only 4.53 volts. That had to be it! I put the new power supply in and all my USB ports suddenly worked great again, and all my drives reappeared. My 5V output was now 5.12V (or some such). Maybe someone else is experiencing a similar issue. If so, I hope this helps.
