Vantec Tornado 80mm Double Ball Bearing High Air Flow Case Fan - Model TD8038H
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: If you are making decisions on fans, forget about comparing CFM ratings. A 2,000 RPM 120mm fan will not be anywhere close to this monster. I have both the 93mm and the 80mm and the 80mm actually seems to blow more.
Mounted on the side of the case and pointed at the center of the motherboard you will see 20c drops in cpu and motherboard temps. Cheaper than buying a fancy cpu cooler...
That said these are being used in a garage for a couple of rendering machines. Don't plan on putting this in your bedroom unless you are deaf or planning on becoming deaf.

Cons: I know almost every review has stated this... but people aren't exaggerating about how loud these are. Really!

5 out of 5 eggs 8350 Works no throttling 12/18/2013

This review is from: ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+ AMD 760G + SB710 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Lots of bagging on this MB- I bought it for a cheap linux rendering workstation with a 8350.
-- unscrewed case fan and pointed at MSOFETS in the NW corner of motherboard. Fastened with zip-ties.
--disabled cool and quiet and turbo
--set cpu overvolt to 1.30
--overclocked to 4.4 GHZ
--added 5$ 120mm fan to case
--uses 113 watts at 100% CPU (rendering). No throttling! CPU temp 60 with stock cooler

Cons: Wish it cost less

Other Thoughts: These micro atx boards are densely packed and run hot! Invest in some fans for your case.
