Pros: Just the right specs for Thinkpad T420
Cons: None that I could findREAD FULL REVIEW
Pros: Cream of the crop laptop that sold for $1400-ish.
Very good Linux support.
Great display (1600x900.) Not IPS but still good.
Large battery (haven't tested the current runtime but replacement batteries are everywhere. Parts in general are easy to find.)
Internal mSATA slot and if I want another drive I can replace the ODD Ultrabay with one for a HDD/SSD.
Good condition and nicely refurbished - looks almost new.
SSD has good SMART data.
Cons: No USB3.
WiFi uses non-free drivers so you can't install Linux over WiFi (needs Ethernet cable or a DVD that includes the non-free iwlwifi drivers.) But it's easy to install the iwlwifi driver from a non-free repo.
Other Thoughts: Hey Newegg, this is the second time I'm entering this review. The first time your server timed me out and the review was lost (it didn't come back when I clicked Back in the browser.) It takes a while to write a review.
16GB RAM and 1TB mSATA SSD incoming :)
This review is from: Seagate Backup Plus 4TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop Hard Drive STCA4000100 Black
Sequential transfer rate (152MB/s)
Cons: 5900rpm - OK for backups and media
Other Thoughts: I blew away the existing partition, created a new one with parted, formatted it with btrfs, mounted it and started rsync-ing.READ FULL REVIEW
