Ergotron 45-353-026 LX Sit-Stand Wall Mount LCD Arm
  • Verified Owner
  • Owned For: 1 month to 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Rugged and Reliable 12/15/2013

This review is from: Ergotron 45-353-026 LX Sit-Stand Wall Mount LCD Arm

Pros: 1. Very Heavy Duty.
2. Easy to put on the wall. Directions were clear, parts well identified and packaged for easy installation.
3. Nice Shiny Finish
4. Easy to adjust. Adjustment tools included. They're very nice: a pair of quite large allen wrenches with a T handle on each one. Not fancy, but highly effective and easy to use.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: This is a well build product. Expect it to last. I bought two of these and I'm very satisfied. I can move the monitors about at will. This is important because I use a keyboard and mouse with a Yoke and Pedals mounted about 20 inches to the side. The arm swings enough so I can do either keyboard or Flight Simulation and have the monitors positioned correctly for either purpose.

Before I mounted them, I made a mockup of the arns out of cardboard to see how things would swing back and forth. I have them mounted on two adjacent studs. You may want to do things differently. Figure out what works for you before drilling holes in your walls.

So what are you waiting for. Order one or two, get out your electric drill, a set of bits and your level and you'll be good to go in a couple of hours after they arrive. Patience counts: Make sure you get them level for smooth operation.

5 out of 5 eggs Black and White Printing at its best 12/15/2013

This review is from: brother MFC-7860DW MFC / All-In-One Up to 27 ppm Monochrome Wireless 802.11b/g Laser Printer

Pros: 1. Excellent driver support for windows xp, windows 8.1 and Linux.
2. Wireless works. I set this up with a wireless connection to my router about 50 ft away through three walls. Works great.
3. Not a lot of in-your face extra software included with the driver. These folks are all about printing. period.
4. Cheap to run.

Cons: only about 600 pages from initial cartridge between January and September. I Bought the large capacity replacement. We'll see how the large capacity cartridge works out. It should last a couple of years at 1000/yr.

Other Thoughts: On linux, I recommend the brother proprietary driver.

Control Center installed on a Virtualized Win 8 machine.
Write down that default password. You may need it in Control Center to change settings remotely. You may also want to set the configurations on control center so it doesn't start when windows starts.

5 out of 5 eggs Nice Printer with working Linux Drivers 01/19/2013

This review is from: brother MFC-7860DW MFC / All-In-One Up to 27 ppm Monochrome Wireless 802.11b/g Laser Printer

Pros: Brother's Linux Drivers just install and work on Ubuntu 12.10. Black and White is good enough for most things. Printing works, Scanning works, fax is likely to work, but I haven't set it up yet. Manual is pretty complete but for Linux setup you'll probably want to read the section on Web Based Management.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Purchased from Newegg, $2.99 to deliver 32 lbs from California to RI, (You folks making a profit? ;-) Ordered Monday evening, arrived at my office Friday Morning.

I bought this for two reasons: 1. sheet fed scanner, 2. Tired of dried out ink jet cartridges at 8000 bucks per gallon.

So far this is working great. I expect a good customer experience. Thanks Brother!

Auto wireless setup did not work so I connected via ethernet and configured wireless manually. No problem. Installed the drivers from the web site. Made sure to pick the right ones for the model.

Plastic Parts are a bit thin so treat it gently to avoid problems
