This review is from: KINGWIN KF-811-T-BK SATA Mobile Rack Tray
Pros: Made mostly of aluminum, which is much sturdier than other, plastic only trays I used before. Shock mounts for the hard drive.
Cons: Didn't last too long, about a dozen cycles. Power switch embedded into the lock failed. In its defence, I used a wrong key to try to open it, but not excessive force. Tiny cooling fan also failed.
Other Thoughts: After using several different designs of removable trays for backup and alternative OS testing, I settled on Icy Dock USB3.0 adapter and bunch of cheap plastic hard disc boxes for storage.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: SYBA 2 Serial Ports PCI-e Controller Card with Low Profile Bracket Model SI-PEX15037
Pros: Inexpensive and small with spare low profile brackets.
Cons: Installation CD contains hodge-podge of drivers and large number of installation programs. It is not clear, which one to use as the instruction leaflet shows different directory structure. I found the right one on the third attempt. The chipset used (CH38X) is made by WinChipHead a Chinese company. I can't vouch for its full compatibility with 16C550, but the rudimentary loopback test passes OK. OTOH, the ports have about 13% worse latency than Prolific USB to RS-232 adapter, which is surprising to say the least.READ FULL REVIEW
