This review is from: Logitech Harmony 1100 Universal Infrared Advanced Remote Control
Pros: I recently built a theater room and was looking for 1 remote to control my equipment in a cabinet (receiver, blu-ray, digital cable box) and rear projector mounted from ceiling. I was skeptical for several months after reading reviews, but decided to try it. After 2 months, I am very pleased with the Harmony remote. Set-up went very smoothly with my 4-month old HP computer. I also purchased the RF remote extender which allows me to leave my cabinet doors closed. I have 3 activities set up, "Watch a Movie" "Turn Off System" and "Watch TV". It is nice being able to turn everything on with the touch of 1 button. Pros:
*Unique looking and perfectly-sized remote
*Does many RC commands without having to program them in (i.e. tv guide, favorite channels, etc.) but does allow you to do so if needed
*My wife can use it
*Customer support e-mailed me back within 24 hours and sent several follow-ups (tech issue with projector on/off)
Cons: The software, Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7, brings up a message on computer startup saying that it is not compatible with Windows 7 Home Premium. However, I have been able to use the software with said computer. Weird.
One issue I experienced was my rear-projector needs the power button pressed twice to power off. I had difficulty getting the projector to power off consistently, so I created a "Turn System Off" activity. Now it consistently powers off with 1 press of the button.
I cannot comment on longevity, but I have taken extra care in NOT dropping it (jinx).
Other Thoughts: This remote, along with the RF Remote Extender, controls my equipment:
