ASRock EP2C612D8 SSI ATX Server Motherboard Dual Socket LGA 2011 R3
  • Owned For: 1 week to 1 month

3 out of 5 eggs Solid Motherboard 11/17/2015

This review is from: ASRock EP2C612D8 SSI ATX Server Motherboard Dual Socket LGA 2011 R3

Pros: Clean layout and uses almost all the holes of a ATX / E-ATX case layout.
Compact mid-tower size.
Solid BIOS, and slots for the memory and chip are very nice.
Compatible Motherboard out of the box.

Cons: I had to glue a plastic grommet for one hole to the motherboard.
Not a motherboard for workstation.
Chip#2 vid card slot uses up most of the hard drive slots, and other functional slots on the motherboard. I was able to squeeze in the power switch but nothing else.

Other Thoughts: The video card slots are backwards on this motherboard compared to other motherboards. Used a bigger case to deal with heat.
MUST hook up svga slot to create an initialization process to burn a BMC chip. This will not occur unless you do that. Once you do this, the other video card will work. You will no longer ever need to use a svga monitor again. I own this motherboard.

Pros: Just what the doctor ordered for a HUGE dual processor system, and a 980 ti video card.
Has a button for 100% fan usage. I love it !!! I wish all HP power supply used this over 700 watts.
Great HD wiring. VERY happy about that too. Don't listen to other people, no flat wires at this level of playing.

Cons: This thing is noisy fan!! With the fan at 100% is pretty noisy. Not intolerable, but quite noisy.
This thing weighs a ton.
Pricing is way to high for this unit.
Gets pretty hot too. I run this backwards so the fan faces OUTSIDE the case.

Other Thoughts: Next time I am buying 2 800's rather than buying this.
I feel very strongly they waste money on a fancy metal case that houses the unit for shipping. That case is costing customers a fortune !!

Pros: I love this card. I don't honestly have any way to compare this card. My old card and system pale to what this card is inside now. I am running 2x e5-2650's with this card. It's a SICK fast machine, and has no equal I can compare too.

Cons: This card is HUGE !!! Weighs a great deal and requires a HUGE power supply to feed it. I am running a 1600 and very happy.

Other Thoughts: This card is VERY MUCH at home in this computer. No thread overloads, and easy to run anything i throw at it. I run 7 days to die at MAX level, and my cpu is 3%-7%. If I stop moving around, it's at 0% cpu usage. This card is SUCK fun to game with. For the development graphical work, it makes easy work of ANYTHING I throw at it. I am SUPER happy guy.
