This review is from: Rosewill RDRD-11004 2.5" SSD / HDD Mounting Kit for 3.5" Drive Bay
Pros: Cheap, simple, mostly does what it is suppose to.
Cons: Doesn't have holes in the bottom for case mounting systems which connect to the bottom of 3.5" drives.READ FULL REVIEW
Pros: Good price on sale.
Cons: Bought 3 drives to expand a storage server (raid-6) and had 2 fail within the first week. One drive did not respond completely or correctly to "IDENTIFY DEVICE" command, appearing with incomplete information and incorrect size. The second drive started timing out requests after a week of operation. SMART status requests also timed out, making verifying the failure of the drive for warranty replacement hard (I like to have a SMART failure with the vendors tools as it makes arranging replacement much easier).
Other Thoughts: Timing out requests was particularly troubling as Linux' MD layer is not that robust against it. The drives were used in a synology 12-bay box. Effective read speeds with the timing out drive in the NAS box were more than 100x slower than normal (normal degraded mode is 2-3x slower than normal).READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: TRENDnet TPL-401E2K Powerline 500 AV Gigabit Adapter Kit Up to 500Mbps
Pros: When it worked, decent performance.
Cons: One unit failed after a couple weeks. Overheated to the point that the plastic enclosure was almost untouchable. Not what you want up against the wall.READ FULL REVIEW
