WD Green WD10EZRX 1TB IntelliPower 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Inexpensive drive.

Cons: Received SMART error on initial install. Tried new SATA cables, different ports, etc. just to be sure. Tried ignoring SMART via the BIOS and formatting the drive, didn't work. Ran software diagnostics test for WD drives and it failed.

Other Thoughts: I've had Hitachi and Seagate drives die on me. This is a first for WD. Too bad QA didn't catch this one before it went out the door.

3 out of 5 eggs ECC UDIMMS 12/11/2012

This review is from: Intel S1200BTSR Micro ATX Server Motherboard LGA 1155 DDR3 1333

Pros: I'll come back later and change the review after it's running.

Cons: I'd like either Intel or NewEgg to make info about the RAM a bit clearer. Instead of telling you outright what it takes, I had to dig around in the technical documentation on Intel's site.

It *must* use ECC Unbuffered RAM. I also was confused and thought that ECC was optional and purchased Non-ECC Unbuffered RAM... it doesn't work.

Other Thoughts: n/a

QNAP TS-212-US Diskless System All-in-one NAS Server with iSCSI for SOHO and Home Users
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: After working with several NAS's, this one takes the cake. *Nice UI*, Linux, EXT4 filesystem, extensible with packages, very hackable.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: I'm looking forward to the day when Samba 4 is released and someone incorporates it into the firmware for this NAS. (For those not aware, Samba 4 would allow your NAS to be an Active Directory Domain Controller.)
