ECS KAM1-I (V1.0) AM1 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Mini ITX AMD Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: more than 1 year

Pros: I used ECS boards back in the early 2000's and had nothing but problems with them. 2 out of 5 were junk. So I was a little apprehensive about going with ECS again. But for the price, newegg's eggcelent return policy I figured why not.
It worked! had heard that ECS has been working hard on improving their quality.
For this little build for a client with limited funds she had I needed to keep costs under $200. This board, CPU, case, memory all worked out great.
May have to consider using ECS more.

Cons: complete garbage.... should have known, used ECS back in the early 90's, they were junk then, still are. this is an update, had this board a little over a year now and it took a dump.. BIOS needs reset and cleared almost weekly now. Submitted a RMA request a week ago and as of yet not heard a thing from ECS, guess they do not believe in customer service? or to swamped dealing with all the other RMA issues from their garbage main boards? I don't know, just know this will be my last ECS board.
cheaper to just go buy a new board rather then having to pay return shipping costs for a $23 board and having this little computer down for a week or so while ECS takes their sweet time getting a replacement to me...

Other Thoughts: AVOID like the plague!!

AZIO MGK1 Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard
  • neweggOwned For: 1 month to 1 year

5 out of 5 eggs Awesome Company 07/29/2015

This review is from: AZIO MGK1 Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Pros: first off, I did not buy this from newegg, got it elsewhere as part of a combo deal.
I've owned my fair share of keyboards over the last 30 years so I was a bit apprehensive about this lower cost mechanical keyboard. I must say, I like it. It may not be for everyone, sure it is mechanical so yes it does make noise!!
This keyboard has a nice tactile feel. super responsive. Key backlights not to bright and overly obnoxious.I like the brushed aluminum overlay, gives this keyboard a nice look on my desk. Like the ability to turn off the windows key. Has some weight to it so it does not easily slide around. Doesn't have 12 dozen keys that I would never use anyway. Volume scroll wheel is very accurate and feels solid and not cheap like many others out there.
I've had quite a few compliments on it when someone happens to wander into my mancave/geek room/office and see this keyboard sitting on my desk. ( I have 3 27" monitors and a 30" on my desk, a Cooler Master Cosmos II tower, and a 4 server rack next to my desk). But I get more comments on this Azio keyboard then I do on all the monitors.

However, it died after 4 months. normally this would be a con, but I've been in the service industry over 40 years. Stuff happens, I've owned dozen of keyboard since my first computer in 1989 when I bought a shiny new Commodore C=64. It was made by humans so stuff happens. That isn't a big deal to me. What matters most to me is how a manufacturer deals with warranty issues. Azio - First Class!! from the time I initially contacted them to the time I received a new replacement was 3 days. Azio paid for shipping the bad one back to them, and I received a brand new one. However it did help that I am less then 50 miles away from them so shipping was super fast. It was quite refreshing dealing with a company who really cared that I was taken care of. something we just do not see much of lately.
I will be adding Azio to my short list of go to vendors for computer gear.
I've been in IT since the early 90's and I've had to deal with my fair share of Manufacturers, vendors, dealers and retail outlets, most good, some bad, but few exceptional like newegg, and now Azio.

Cons: con yes, it died... but hey stuff happens... oh well.

Athena Power RM-1U100DR22 Black Aluminum / Steel 1U Rackmount Server Case FLEX 220W 1 External 5.25
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Bought this to build a simple websever for an intranet a client needed. for the price, with a 220W flex power, power supply wasn't bad.. not made out of flimsy thin steel either.
not much to say other then makes a great little 1U server. Did need to make one minor modification to the back where mainboard went in, but think that was more the mainboard vendor not using known standards.

Cons: included front fans are noisy! bought some quieter 40 MM fans.
